JOB DESCRIPTION About The Role We are seeking a Senior Developer with expertise in AWS serverless development to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have experience building scalable backend services and APIs primarily using TypeScript, with Python or Java as a plus. This role will work extensively with AWS Lambda, SQS, RDS, and Step Functions to deliver event-driven, highly scalable solutions. Success in this role will require technical leadership, the ability to visualize complex workflows, and a passion for code quality. You will play a key role in mentoring junior developers, participating in architecture discussions, and maintaining a high bar for system reliability and performance. Familiarity with media digital supply chains and experience leveraging AI tools to enhance development workflows is a plus. A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using TypeScript on AWS serverless platforms (Lambda, SQS, RDS, Step Functions)Lead technical discussions and collaborate with cross-functional teams on architecture, design, and implementation strategiesCreate detailed workflow diagrams and technical documentation to support development and operationsDebug and resolve production issues using AWS CloudWatch logs, Datadog, and other monitoring toolsConduct code reviews and mentor junior developers, promoting coding best practices and quality standardsBuild OpenSearch indexes to support robust natural language search functionalityLeverage AI tools to assist in development, code review, validation, and test generationMaintain and improve unit test coverage across servicesOptimize applications for performance, scalability, and reliabilityUnderstand and apply CI/CD concepts with tools like GitHub Actions WHAT YOU WILL NEED 5+ years of professional software development experienceExpertise in AWS serverless technologies: Lambda, SQS, RDS, and Step FunctionsProficiency in TypeScript; additional experience in Python or Java is a plusStrong knowledge of both Object-Oriented and Functional ProgrammingExperience debugging with AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar toolsDemonstrated ability to lead technical discussions and produce workflow diagramsStrong experience mentoring and performing code reviewsSolid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and GitHub ActionsAbility to scale and tune services for performance and reliabilityFamiliarity with npm private packages and modern package managementUnderstanding of relational, NoSQL, and caching database typesExperience building OpenSearch indexesHands-on experience using AI tools to accelerate development and review processesCommitment to unit testing with high coverageStrong verbal and written communication skills NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer – Associate)Familiarity with infrastructure as code (CloudFormation, Terraform)Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, ECS, or EKSBackground knowledge of media digital supply chains #DTC We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $143,000.00-170,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
