Job Title: Cloud Systems Engineer II 12-month contract | Hybrid in the Greater Vancouver Metropolitan Area | Closing Date: Monday, August 17, 2026 | Must hold a valid Canadian Work Visa Our client, a large British Columbia organization focused on workplace health, safety, and insurance services, is seeking an experienced Cloud Systems Engineer II for a 12-month contract. This is a hybrid position based in Vancouver, BC and includes participation in the team's on-call rotation. This is a hands-on cloud infrastructure engineering role focused on the automation, implementation, and operational support of Microsoft Azure environments. The successful candidate will work across Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), compute, storage, application services, application gateways, networking, resiliency, and recovery while helping mature the organization's cloud automation and developer platform capabilities. A major focus of the position will be Infrastructure as Code and automation, particularly using Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, and Azure DevOps pipelines. The Cloud Systems Engineer will also contribute to technology adoption and design reviews, support other technical team members, and provide input into the organization's evolving cloud roadmap. Responsibilities: Implement, automate, maintain, and support enterprise cloud infrastructure and services within Microsoft AzureDesign and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform HCL and related IaC technologiesDevelop infrastructure and operational automation using PowerShell, Ansible, shell scripting, and deployment/release pipelinesConfigure and support Azure services including AKS, compute, storage, application services, application gateways, networking, zone/region redundancy, and recovery capabilitiesPartner with DevOps and application teams to provision and troubleshoot Azure services supporting business application deploymentsDevelop, maintain, and troubleshoot Azure DevOps classic and YAML pipelinesContribute to the design and implementation of developer platforms and cloud enablement capabilitiesSupport and administer Microsoft Windows Server and Red Hat Linux virtual server environmentsPerform server provisioning and decommissioning, monthly security patching, certificate renewals, and operating system image buildsTroubleshoot complex cloud, infrastructure, networking, deployment, and operating system issues through resolutionHelp improve the availability, resilience, scalability, and operational effectiveness of cloud environmentsParticipate in technical design reviews and technology adoption initiativesEvaluate new technologies and provide technical recommendations supporting the continued evolution of the cloud roadmapProvide technical guidance and support to other members of the infrastructure and cloud teamsContribute to Agile and DevOps practices and continuous improvement initiativesParticipate in the team's on-call rotation Qualifications: 6+ years of experience in infrastructure design and support, systems engineering, software development, or a related technical discipline, including at least 2 years working with cloud technologiesStrong hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft Azure solutionsStrong knowledge of Azure IaaS and PaaS services, including compute, storage, application services, application gateways, networking, redundancy, and recoveryDemonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform; experience with ARM or Bicep is also relevantHands-on experience with Ansible and infrastructure/configuration automationStrong scripting and automation capabilities using PowerShell, shell scripting, or similar technologiesExperience with Azure DevOps, including classic and YAML pipelines and CI/CD practicesWorking knowledge of Windows Server and Linux, including operating system administration and security patchingExperience working within highly complex and integrated enterprise environmentsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to take ownership of issues through resolutionExperience with Agile and DevOps tools, techniques, and delivery processesStrong communication, teamwork, and collaboration skillsUndergraduate degree in a STEM discipline such as Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, or MathematicsAdditional Relevant Experience Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)Developer platform design and implementationAzure networking and application gatewaysHigh availability and zone/region redundancyBackup, recovery, and resiliencyEnterprise-scale Azure environmentsWindows Server and Red Hat Linux administrationCertificate management, operating system hardening, and security patchingAWS or GCP cloud engineering experience that can be readily applied to Microsoft Azure NOTE: Interested candidates who meet the above qualifications are encouraged to apply directly.
