Joybuy is JD.com’s European full-category online retail brand designed to bring customers a faster, more convenient, and cost-effective shopping experience. Offering same-day and next-day delivery across the UK, Joybuy combines speed, reliability, and affordability to meet the needs of modern shoppers. Your work has an impact on the search and recommendation experience for our customers. This will involve working alongside our machine learning engineers, design leads, product leads, and business leads, helping with everything from the development of tools and platforms to code optimisations and the deployment of solutions. The ideal candidate will have solid technical experience with deploying models for search engines and recommendations, and strong business acumen. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop backend services supporting search bar query, retrieval, and ranking scenarios.Integrate machine learning models into online search services through microservice-based architectures.Build and maintain high-performance backend systems using Java and Spring Boot.Collaborate with machine learning engineers to support model deployment, serving, and optimisation.Ensure system scalability, reliability, and low-latency performance under high traffic.Document system design decisions and share backend best practices within the team.Work onsite in London, UK. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field.3+ years of experience in Java programming and Spring Boot.Experience related to search systems, such as retrieval, ranking, or advertising.Experience with microservices architecture and service deployment.Ability to communicate effectively in English. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting ML-enabled search systems in production environments.Experience working on high-concurrency or low-latency services.Experience in large internet or consumer-facing technology companies.Familiarity with distributed systems design.Ability to communicate effectively in Chinese.
