In this role, you will bring solid foundational coding capabilities (PHP, JavaScript, HTML/CSS) to elevate our digital platforms - ranging from custom WordPress/WooCommerce builds and API integrations to HubSpot automations, QA testing, and Tier-2 technical support. This is a growth-oriented hybrid role designed for someone with strong core technical skills who wants to expand their capabilities across modern systems operations. You will work closely alongside our Technology Manager in a collaborative, mentorship-focused environment where you can refine your engineering skills, learn our stack inside and out, and earn increasing technical autonomy over time. We need a developer who uses AI as a force multiplier - leveraging it to draft boilerplate or speed up research, but bringing the technical discernment to vet the output, test edge cases, and catch when the machine is flat-out wrong before code ever touches our staging servers. Our Management & Onboarding Style: We value structure, communication, and trust. During your initial weeks, our onboarding process will be high-touch and collaborative: reviewing code in staging, walking through workflows, and co-managing testing. As you master our systems and demonstrate high process retention, you will earn full development autonomy and direct administrative ownership. Key Responsibilities & Tasks To help keep your days focused and structured, your workload will generally align across these primary focus areas: Custom Web & APLI Development (~50% Focus) Write clean, foundational PHP, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS snippets to extend WordPress and WooCommerce functionality beyond off-the-shelf limits.Build, maintain, and troubleshoot data flows across HubSpot and Zapier using native tools, webhooks, and custom script blocks (JS/PHP).Basic understanding of REST APIs to connect third-party platforms and maintain reliable data pipelines.Build and optimize responsive page layouts in Elementor when custom code isn't required.Practice web security best practices, including sanitizing inputs, escaping output, and secure API key management. Marketing Tech & Systems Operations (~20% Focus) Build and test event workflows, customer journeys, and transactional triggers within HubSpot.Create custom HubSpot reports and dashboards to provide clear operational metrics for leadership.Support, connect, and maintain secondary operational platforms across our ecosystem (e.g., SimpleTexting, AddEvent, SEMrush) to ensure clean data flow across channels. Technical Client Support & Tier-2 Escalations (~15% Focus) Serve as the internal technical expert and secondary escalation point on our client support desk.Partner with our primary Client Specialist to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve technical inquiries, bug reports, and integration questions submitted by our members.Translate technical fixes or workarounds into clear, accessible explanations that the Client Specialist or client can easily understand. Agency Co-Piloting, QA & Site Maintenance (~15% Focus) Support the Tech Manager in co-managing our external software development agency partner by reviewing code deployments in staging, testing builds (UAT), and managing tickets in Jira and Slack.Maintain overall site health, execute plugin updates, perform performance tuning, and stage weekly blog posts.Assist with basic Google Workspace administrative tasks (user provisioning, shared drive permissions, domain/DNS updates) alongside our external IT security partner. You are passionate about expanding your technical skills, taking feedback well during code reviews, and continually leveling up under the guidance of our Tech Manager.Foundational Coding Skills: Solid core knowledge of PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS/SASS, with an eagerness to learn modern web APIs and advanced functions.WordPress & WooCommerce Knowledge: Hands-on experience tweaking WordPress sites, working with hooks/filters, understanding page builders (Elementor), and working with basic WooCommerce functions.API & Database Fundamentals: Basic understanding of REST APIs, JSON formatting, and webhooks. Familiarity with running basic MySQL database queries and understanding WP database structures is a plus.Web Security Awareness: Understanding of basic web security best practices (sanitizing inputs, escaping data, secure handling of API credentials).Technical Translation & Client Empathy: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to translate technical concepts into clear language for non-technical clients and internal team members.Analytical Problem Solver: Diagnostic mindset. You take pride in digging into software logs, reading technical documentation, and testing hypotheses in sandbox environments to solve root causes.Pragmatic AI Tooling & Discernment: Comfortable using modern AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate coding and research - paired with the critical thinking to independently audit and test AI output.Workplace Setup & Schedule: Dedicated, distraction-free home office. Located in ET, CT, or MT time zones and available 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM local time. Close proximity to a major airport is preferred.Travel: Ability to travel 1 - 2 times per year to support our semi-annual client events on-site, concluding with team bonding time on the final day. Preferred Qualifications Experience or interest in learning marketing automation tools (HubSpot) or iPaaS tools (Zapier).Familiarity with project management and async collaboration tools (Jira, Slack).Exposure to EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) principles.Prior exposure to or background in the residential home services industry (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
