We're Hiring: Senior Java Developer emergiTEL is hiring a Senior Java Developer for our client in the Cryptocurrency & FinTech industry. 📍 Location: Etobicoke, ON – Hybrid 🏢 In-office: Wednesdays & Thursdays 💰 Salary: $130,000–$135,000/year 💼 Type: Permanent, Full-Time About the Role We are looking for a senior-level backend Java developer who can take ownership of complex technical challenges, drive solutions, and contribute to the development of core business and ATM platform applications. You'll work closely with Java developers, frontend, systems integration, and DevOps teams in an evolving pod-based development environment. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, and reliable Java backend applications.Build and support RESTful APIs and integrations using Java and Spring Boot.Develop solutions aligned with business and technical objectives.Design and optimize relational databases and SQL queries.Collaborate with frontend, integration, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability and performance.Participate in code reviews and promote secure, high-quality coding practices.Contribute to architecture and technical decision-making.Take ownership of complex problems and drive solutions independently.Mentor and support other developers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing. Required Qualifications 5+ years of professional Java development experience.Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.Strong experience developing REST APIs.Experience with AWS.Strong SQL and relational database experience.Experience with Postman and API testing.Experience with automation and modern software development practices.Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.Ability to work independently, take ownership, and drive technical solutions.Experience working in Agile development environments. Nice to Have Frontend experience with Angular or ReactJS.Experience with Docker and CI/CD.Experience with Linux and shell scripting.Experience with Swagger.Experience with database migration tools such as Flyway.Experience in FinTech, cryptocurrency, banking, payments, or other highly regulated environments.
