As we expand across Western Canada, we are seeking senior-level field professionals to lead complex commissioning projects in British Columbia. The Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Protection & Control Field Specialist (Technologist or Engineer) to lead field execution and provide technical expertise on critical power system projects. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on commissioning, testing, and client delivery not design. Responsibilities Lead installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of:Protective relays, DFRs, RTUs, PLC systems, and telecom equipmentPerform advanced testing for:Transmission systems, buses, transformers, and generation assetsConfigure and commission advanced relay systems, including:SEL (311C, 311L, 387, 411L, 421, 487, 587, 787)GE relays (C30, D60, L90, T60, etc.)Oversee SCADA/RTU integration and upgradesInterpret and validate protection schemes and settingsLead field teams and mentor junior/intermediate staffInterface directly with clients and provide technical guidanceTroubleshoot complex issues and implement solutionsEnsure accurate reporting and project documentationChampion a strong safety culture Qualifications 7–15 years of progressive field experience in protection & controls Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related fieldRegistration or eligibility with ASTTBC or EGBCNETA Certification (Level I–IV) preferredAdvanced experience with:SEL relay familiesGE relays (strong asset)RTU and communication systems (GE, SEL, Novatech, etc.)Proven leadership and client-facing experienceExcellent technical, problem-solving, and communication skillsValid driver’s license and willingness to travelLegally authorized to work in Canada What You’ll Lead Complex commissioning projectsField team development and mentorshipDelivery of high-quality, safety-driven work Why Join Shermco Industries Work on critical infrastructure projects across BCOngoing training and manufacturer certificationsStrong safety-first cultureSupportive, highly skilled team environmentLong-term career growth opportunities Pay Range CAD $80.00 - CAD $95.00 /Hr.
