We're hiring a Senior Cloud Software Engineer at Merkle in Sofia. What you`ll do: Design and implement scalable, event-driven backend services on AWS, with Lambda as the primary compute layer alongside API Gateway, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, and Step FunctionsWrite performant Lambda functions with a solid grasp of cold-start mitigation, execution context reuse, provisioned concurrency, and idempotency patternsArchitect cloud infrastructure using IaC (AWS CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation) and own it end-to-end from design through to deploymentBuild and maintain RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs with a focus on security, versioning, and developer experienceOwn and optimise CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins / GitHub Actions), enforcing automated testing, security scanning, and seamless production deploymentsModel and query both relational (PostgreSQL / Aurora) and NoSQL (DynamoDB) databases effectivelyInstrument serverless systems for observability, structured logging, distributed tracing, and monitoring via CloudWatch, Datadog, or equivalentContribute meaningfully in a Scrum environment, breaking down complex technical initiatives into well-defined user storiesChampion the use of AI-assisted development tooling (GitHub Copilot, Kiro, etc.) to raise the team's overall velocity What we`ll need: 7+ years of professional backend engineering experience, with a significant portion in cloud-native, serverless architecturesExpert-level TypeScript and modern JavaScript; strong Node.js background with production experience in NestJS, Express, or FastifyDeep hands-on AWS experience, you think in serverless patterns, not just servicesComfortable owning architectural decisions and articulating them clearly to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholdersHigh standards around code quality, test coverage, and peer reviewCurious about how AI tooling is reshaping engineering workflows, and proactive about applying it practicallyAWS certification (Developer or Solutions Architect) is a plus, as is experience with Kubernetes/EKS or the Serverless Framework What we offer: We are strong believers in work-life balance, so we offer all our employees 25 days of paid leave and 3 fixed well-being days off per year.
