Scope of the Role: We are looking for a Senior OpenStack and DevOps Engineer to take technical ownership of our enterprise, multi-region, high-availability cloud infrastructure. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who has designed, deployed, operated, troubleshot, and upgraded OpenStack clusters - not someone who has only used OpenStack through Horizon, the CLI, or APIs. Key Responsibilities: Design, deploy, and operate multi-node, highly available OpenStack environmentsManage OpenStack control-plane and data-plane services across multiple regionsPlan and execute major OpenStack upgrades and migrations, such as Train, Wallaby, Yoga, Zed, Caracal, or similar releasesDeploy and maintain OpenStack using Kolla-Ansible and AnsibleOperate and troubleshoot core OpenStack services, including: NeutronNovaKeystoneGlanceCinderPlacementHeatZun and Kuryr Manage highly available infrastructure components, including: HAProxy and KeepalivedRabbitMQMariaDB/GaleraMemcached Integrate and operate Ceph storage with OpenStackTroubleshoot complex Linux, virtualization, storage, and network issuesAutomate deployment, monitoring, backup, recovery, patching, and lifecycle-management activitiesWork closely with infrastructure, security, application, and operations teamsProduce technical documentation, operational procedures, and upgrade or recovery plans What We are Looking For: Required: At least 5 years of hands-on OpenStack engineering or operations experienceProven experience building and operating production OpenStack clustersDemonstrable experience performing OpenStack upgrades, migrations, or major version transitionsStrong experience with Linux, KVM, Libvirt, Ansible, and Kolla-AnsibleStrong understanding of OpenStack architecture, service dependencies, cells, scheduling, and placementStrong Linux networking knowledge, including:VLANs and network bondingBridges and Open vSwitchRouting and NATMTU and overlay networkingVXLAN, Geneve, and provider networksExperience troubleshooting Nova, Neutron, RabbitMQ, Galera, HAProxy, and API-related failuresGood understanding of high availability, capacity planning, monitoring, backup, and disaster recoveryAbility to diagnose issues using logs, packet captures, service states, database records, and message queues Preferred Skills: Docker and containerized OpenStack operationsKubernetes, Helm, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or similar automation platformsPrometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, or centralized logging platformsPython or Bash scriptingExperience operating OpenStack in disconnected, restricted, government, defence, or security-sensitive environmentsFamiliarity with cybersecurity lab, cyber-range, or enterprise private-cloud environments Important Note: This position is not suitable for candidates whose OpenStack experience is limited to launching virtual machines through Horizon or using OpenStack CLI commands.We are specifically looking for an engineer who has worked directly with the OpenStack platform itself, including deployment, configuration, upgrades, high availability, storage, networking, troubleshooting, and production operations.
