Virtualization & Infrastructure Engineer

The Virtualization & Infrastructure Engineer joins the Infrastructure Operations team and is responsible for the operation, maintenance, monitoring and support of enterprise virtualization platforms, with a primary focus on Nutanix AHV environments. The role is mainly focused on RUN and operational activities, ensuring the availability, performance and resilience of the virtualization infrastructure while supporting OS and application teams. The engineer will collaborate closely with Infrastructure Engineering teams and contribute to platform improvements, automation initiatives and lifecycle management activities. Key Responsibilities Virtualization Operations Operate and maintain enterprise virtualization platforms in production environments.Administer and support Nutanix AHV, AOS, Prism Element and Prism Central.Contribute to VMware environment operations when required.Monitor platform health, performance, capacity and availability.Troubleshoot issues affecting hosted workloads and infrastructure services.Support OS and application teams on virtualization-related incidents.Infrastructure Monitoring & Incident Management Monitor infrastructure alerts, logs and performance indicators.Investigate incidents and conduct root cause analysis.Participate in incident, problem and change management processes.Coordinate with infrastructure, network, storage and backup teams during major incidents.Escalate complex issues to vendors or engineering teams when required.Capacity & Lifecycle Management Monitor resource utilization across compute, storage and networking layers.Identify capacity constraints and contribute to infrastructure planning.Perform platform maintenance activities, upgrades and patching.Execute Nutanix lifecycle activities, including AOS, AHV and firmware upgrades.Validate platform health following maintenance operations.Resilience, Backup & Recovery Maintain cluster availability and resilience.Support disaster recovery, business continuity and backup activities.Participate in recovery tests and resilience validation.Support storage and backup integration with virtualization platforms.Automation & Continuous Improvement Develop and maintain automation scripts using technologies such as PowerShell, Bash, Ansible or REST APIs.Automate operational and monitoring tasks where appropriate.Improve procedures, documentation and operational efficiency.Contribute to standardization and continuous improvement initiatives.Security & Compliance Apply security and hardening standards.Manage platform access according to security policies.Ensure changes comply with operational and compliance requirements.Maintain accurate technical documentation.Required Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience in infrastructure, virtualization or systems administration.Mandatory hands-on experience with Nutanix AHV.Good knowledge of Nutanix AOS, AHV and Prism.Experience operating and troubleshooting virtualization environments.Understanding of compute, storage and networking concepts.Experience with monitoring, incident management and infrastructure support.Knowledge of high availability, backup, replication and disaster recovery concepts.Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.Ability to work effectively in cross-functional technical teams.VMware vSphere experience is considered an advantage.Nice-to-Have Skills Nutanix certifications (NCA, NCP).Nutanix LCM, Move, Replication or Metro Availability.Enterprise backup solutions (e.g. Veeam).PowerShell, Bash, Ansible or REST APIs.ITIL-based operational environments.VMware vSphere.Kubernetes or OpenShift exposure.Experience with automation, observability or cloud technologies.Profile We are looking for a hands-on and motivated infrastructure engineer with a strong interest in virtualization technologies and continuous learning.
