And we do it all right here at Sky. About The Role Join us as a Software Engineer in Sky’s Content Platform, building and operating the systems that power content delivery at scale. From video ingest and encoding to metadata and distribution, you’ll work on high-impact services used by millions of customers while delivering reliable, scalable solutions in a fast-moving, cloud-native environment. Please note – this is a hybrid role with an on-call rotation twice a month. What You'll Do Build and operate Python-based services on AWS using microservices and event-driven architectureDeliver independently deployable features with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and performanceWrite clean, maintainable Python code and contribute to code reviews to maintain high engineering standardsWrite comprehensive unit and functional tests to keep code qualityOwn services end to end, including deployment, monitoring, and production support, with out-of-hours participation where requiredDevelop and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure as codeWork on systems supporting video ingest, encoding, metadata, and content distribution workflowsUse observability and metrics to identify issues and improve system performanceCollaborate with engineers, analysts, and QA to deliver high-quality solutions What You'll Bring Strong backend engineering experience with Python as a primary languageHands-on experience building and operating services on AWSExperience designing and delivering APIs and microservicesWorking knowledge of distributed systems or event-driven architecturesStrong experience with unit and functional tests preferably by using TDDExperience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and production supportAbility to debug and resolve issues in production environmentsProblem solver with a curious, proactive mindset and a strong sense of ownershipA pragmatic mindset with the ability to deliver value while maintaining quality Team Overview Our Content Technology and Innovation team delivers high-quality content to homes, customer devices, businesses, and commercial partners across our European markets.
