Summary ✨ AI‑Generated

Join a platform engineering environment where you will progressively take ownership of observability, automation, delivery pipelines, and operational reliability. You will improve dashboards and alerts, automate repetitive work with Ansible and scripting, support CI/CD through Azure DevOps, operate enterprise software, and contribute to incident response and continuous improvement.

Highlights

Develop a broad DevOps skill set with support from an experienced team. The role spans observability, automation, CI/CD, infrastructure operations, incident response, and reliability improvement, providing a clear path toward full platform engineering responsibility.

Description

What You Will Work On These are the main challenges you will contribute to - you will grow into the full scope over time with support from the team: • Observability. Improve observability across the estate - building dashboards, alerts, and traces so teams can understand system behaviour without escalating to the platform team. • Toil reduction. Reduce toil - identify repetitive manual operations work and progressively automate it, freeing the team for higher-value engineering. • Delivery pipelines. Support and improve CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, helping engineering communities ship faster and more safely. • Automation. Contribute to platform automation using Ansible and scripting - provisioning, configuration management, and self-service capabilities. • COTS operations. Operate and improve reliability of COTS products (TIBCO, Oracle) within platform standards. • Incident response. Participate in incident response - contributing to post-mortems and follow-up action items, building your reliability engineering craft. What We Are Looking For Core skills - these matter most We expect hands-on experience with most of these. You do not need all of them to be considered. • Platform or infrastructure engineering background - you have built or operated platforms, not just consumed them. • Comfortable with containers: Docker and/or OpenShift (or Kubernetes). Able to read, write, and troubleshoot workload configurations independently. • Some observability experience - Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK. Ideally you have written alert rules or built dashboards, not just read them. • Automation mindset with hands-on scripting ability - Python, Bash, or equivalent. Ansible experience is a strong plus. • Understanding of CI/CD concepts and at least one pipeline tool (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar). • Exposure to Linux system administration and VM-based workloads. • Able to read and reason about Java or JVM-based applications - you do not need to be a Java developer, but you should be comfortable in that world. Helpful extras - good to have These will make you effective faster but are not barriers to entry. • Experience with TIBCO or similar integration middleware in an operations context. • Oracle or Cassandra database operations - monitoring, backup/restore, basic query tuning. • Spring Batch - understanding of batch job patterns and failure modes. • SRE concepts - SLOs, error budgets, toil measurement. Even theoretical familiarity is valued. • Experience working in financial services or regulated environments. • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling (GitHub Copilot or similar).
