As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you are joining a passionate software engineering team to build sequencing products to change patients' lives. You will help build highly scalable, reliable, and secure cloud based software systems. Ultimately, the software you produce will impact patient care globally. Your Opportunity Architect, implement, and rigorously test backend APIs, software features, and product infrastructure.Leverage serverless computing, distributed platforms, and cloud technologies to build robust solutions.Utilize AI tools and Large Language Models (LLMs) to accelerate the design, implementation, and optimization of software architecture and code.Write clean, maintainable code, comprehensive documentation, and robust automated tests.Research new tools, testing processes, and technologies to continuously improve our development lifecycle.Who you are 6+ years of hands-on software development experience.B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent field.Highly proficient in Java, Spring Boot, and building REST APIs for software products.Experience with microservices architecture and development including associated tools.Familiarity with relational databases like PostgresSQL and MySQL.Ability and willingness to quickly learn new technologies and work with Agile/Lean practices and scalable architecture.Act as an effective communicator who can navigate conflict, influence project outcomes, and support the team through strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and continuous feedback.Preferred Hands-on experience building out cloud solutions specifically using AWS.Frontend development experience, allowing you to comfortably step into full-stack tasks.A background in life sciences, medical devices, or bioinformatics.Experience developing regulated products under strict design controls.Mandatory Skills Required - technical/non-technical: 6+ years of hands-on software development experience.B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent field.Highly proficient in Java, Spring Boot, PostgresSQL (or equivalent relational database)Experience with microservices architecture and development including associated tools.Nice to Have Skills Required - technical/non-technical: Hands-on experience building out cloud solutions specifically using AWS.Frontend development experience, allowing you to comfortably step into full-stack tasks.A background in life sciences, medical devices, or bioinformatics.Experience developing regulated products under strict design controls.Top Primary Goals for New Hire within 60days: Proactively seek quick and efficient onboarding on the product, ensuring familiarity with the product, codebase and ways of working of the team.Start contributing to product in constructive ways starting with tech debt, defects but also moving on to relatively simple customer feature work well within 60 day windowBe relatively independent and well integrated with team culture and pace.Relocation benefits are not available for this position.
