Role Description The Sr.
and Intermediate Software Engineers will design, implement, and maintain core components of AHOY Tech’s Physical AI platform in a full-time, hybrid role based in Montreal, QC, with some flexibility for working from home.
Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and optimizing back-end services, edge runtime components, and system orchestration logic, as well as ensuring low-latency, secure, and reliable deployments.
Engineers in these roles will collaborate closely with research, product and sales teams to integrate perception and decision-making modules, conduct code reviews, and improve system performance.
They will also help define technical standards, contribute to documentation, and participate in troubleshooting and incident resolution for production systems.
Qualifications
Strong software engineering skills in languages commonly used for systems and back-end development (e.g., Python, Go, Rust) and experience with software design patterns.Background in distributed systems, microservices, or edge computing, including experience with APIs, messaging, and low-latency data processing.Experience with cloud platforms and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.Knowledge of security and compliance best practices, including secure coding, observability, auditing, and monitoring of production systems.Ability to write clean, testable, and maintainable code, with experience in unit, integration, and performance testing.Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills and experience working in cross-functional teams in a hybrid environment.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Experience in AI, data-intensive systems, or real-world infrastructure domains (e.g., smart cities, utilities, transport) is a strong asset.
