Boston Globe Media is looking for a .NET developer with proven experience to join their engineering department as a member of the Consumer Revenue team. You will work on a team of front-end and back-end developers to deliver a high quality ecommerce experience for bostonglobe.com and affiliated properties. We are looking for someone with an enthusiasm to produce clean, performant, well documented code. The ideal candidate has a willingness to adapt, be audience focused with a curious mindset and is committed to creating an inclusive work environment. Responsibilities Develop efficient, scalable software solutions using the .NET framework and related technologies.Collaborate with business analysts and project managers to understand application requirements.Take ownership of projects from start to finish, including feasibility, solution design, scoping and delivery.Integrate software components with third-party systems and services.Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing software applications.Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and debugging to ensure software functionality.Stay informed about advancements in the .NET framework and related technologies.Be a self-starter able to work independently as well as to work with the team in an Agile (Scrum) workflow.Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.5+ years of experience building applications with .NET.Strong understanding of the .NET framework, C#, and object-oriented programming.Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality and efficient software solutions.Proficiency in database design - experience with MySQL, Postgres, SQL Server or other relational SQL database (creating tables, views, stored procedures).Experience developing REST APIs using modern-day best practices.Strong knowledge of software development best practices and design patterns.Knowledge of web development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.Knowledge of version control systems such as Subversion and Git.Familiarity with the agile methodology of software development.Efficient communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.A desire to continuously learn new skills and to mentor junior team members.A willingness to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment Bonus Points: Experience with data analysis and making data-driven decisions.Experience with performance analysis and tuning of database and web applications.Experience using Piano ID for identity management.Familiarity with React and the Node.js ecosystem.The BGMP office is located in downtown Boston, near Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, and is easily accessible by MBTA and commuter rail lines. For this role, we will consider candidates who are based anywhere in the United States. The annual base salary range for this role is $115,000 - $140,000 This range reflects the band for this role. We are committed to fair and market-informed compensation. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates could be hired within the midpoint of the range. Compensation for the successful candidate will be informed by their particular combination of skills, experience, and qualifications.
