The Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Java Developer to join a specialised trading technology team responsible for building low-latency execution systems at the core of the firm's trading infrastructure. This is a highly technical role focused on designing and developing scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems capable of processing large transaction volumes with millisecond-level performance requirements. You will work closely with traders, portfolio managers, and risk teams to deliver technology solutions that directly impact trading outcomes. Key Responsibilities Design and develop high-performance trading system components using Java.Architect scalable and resilient distributed applications supporting real-time trading workflows.Drive improvements in system performance, latency, throughput, and reliability.Lead technical design discussions, code reviews, and engineering best practices.Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues within mission-critical environments.Work directly with traders, portfolio managers, and risk teams to translate business requirements into technology solutions.Contribute to the ongoing evolution of a sophisticated global trading platform. Required Skills & Experience 5+ years of commercial software development experience with Java.Strong expertise in multithreading, concurrency, and distributed systems.Experience building high-performance, scalable backend applications.Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and system optimisation.Proven ability to work independently and drive technical initiatives.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. Preferred Experience Experience within electronic trading, capital markets, hedge funds, investment banks, or fintech environments.Exposure to low-latency system design and performance optimisation.Experience developing fault-tolerant, business-critical systems.
