Forward Deployed Engineer (API & Data)

Superlinear's mission is to strengthen the Belgian and European economy, with the ambition to improve EU GDP by 1%. Enterprises today must do more to remain competitive, yet are forced to do so with less: talent, energy, and physical space are all becoming scarcer. The answer is Enterprise Orchestration: coordinating all decisions and activities across a company's value chain to eliminate the systemic inefficiencies that departmentalisation and rigid business rules create. To make this real, we are building Holon, an Enterprise Orchestration Platform. The economic opportunity is massive, but it is bottlenecked by the sheer complexity of orchestrating at enterprise scale. That's why we are pushing the boundaries of what's technically possible, researching new technologies to significantly expand the scale and scope of the orchestration challenges we can solve. We have early traction with some of Europe's largest industrial enterprises. Now we need engineers who can connect their systems and data so orchestration can run on live operations. That's why we're hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer with a focus on API and Data Integration. The role As a Forward Deployed Engineer (API and Data), you own the data backbone of every deployment: getting client data into Holon reliably, and getting Holon's decisions back out into the systems that execute them. You build the integrations, pipelines, and APIs that turn a client's operational reality into a live, orchestrated decision system. Data integration is the prerequisite for everything Holon does. A pilot only proves value when it runs on the client's live data rather than an offline snapshot, so the quality, freshness, and reliability of these data flows directly determine whether a deployment succeeds within its timeline. What you'll build Data integration and ingestion Build and operate the pipelines that bring client operational data into HolonIntegrate with client data platforms such as Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, and Databricks, as well as ERP, WMS, MES, and TMS systemsModel and maintain the company state, the structured representation of the client's operations that the orchestration engine plans againstEnsure data quality, validation, and observability so decisions rest on trustworthy inputs APIs and data contracts Design and build the APIs that move data in and decisions out, with clear contracts and versioningMake integrations repeatable across clients, reducing time-to-value for every new deploymentHandle authentication, security, and access in line with EU-sovereign, white-box principles Production reliability Build pipelines that are robust, monitored, and maintainable in productionContribute to testing, documentation, and alerting so live deployments stay healthyWork with Cloud and DevOps engineers to deploy and scale integrations Working closely with clients and the team Partner with Deployment Strategists, Optimization engineers, and client data and IT teams to scope and unblock integrations earlyHelp clients prepare their data before a pilot starts, so the timeline holdsCommunicate constraints and trade-offs clearly; feed learnings back into Holon and the Superlinear Playbook Essential Experience 4+ years in data engineering, backend or integration engineering, or platform engineeringProven experience building production data pipelines and APIs in complex environmentsExperience integrating with enterprise systems and/or modern data platforms (Snowflake, Fabric, Databricks) Technical Skills That Matter Strong Python and SQL with solid software engineering fundamentals (clean, tested, maintainable code)Experience with data modelling, ETL/ELT, and API design (REST and similar)Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, containers, and CI/CDComfortable reasoning about data quality, security, and observabilityComfortable across a modern backend and data stack: Python and FastAPI with OpenAPI-documented services, Postgres, message queues and blob storage (Azure Service Bus, Azure Blob Storage), and observability with OpenTelemetry, deployed on Azure with Terraform. Equivalent experience counts too (e.g. Litestar, AWS SQS/S3, Pulumi).
