12 month maximum term contract opportunity, as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at CMC Markets, you will work on platforms that support millions of trading decisions.
.You will play a key role in improving reliability, availability, and performance across large scale systems, ensuring customers can access markets when it matters most.
Your work will be highly visible and meaningful, giving you a strong sense of contribution and influence in what you deliver.
This is a hands on opportunity for someone who enjoys building capabilities from the ground up.
You'll work closely with engineers and technology stakeholders to establish and embed practical Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, including SLOs/SLIs, incident management, post-incident reviews, runbooks, automation, and continuous improvement.
As an integral part of the development lifecycle, you'll help design and deliver resilient, scalable, secure, high performing, and observable digital products and platforms for NGS.
Working within a collaborative Agile environment, you'll take ownership of service reliability by defining and measuring SLOs, while driving meaningful improvements in system availability, performance, and key operational metrics such as MTTD and MTTR.

What you’ll be working on
Establish, maintain, and report on SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets to improve service reliability.Improve observability standards, patterns, and best practices through metrics, logs, distributed tracing, dashboards, alerting, and actionable signals, including leading OpenTelemetry adoption.Lead incident response, triage, stakeholder communications, blameless post incident reviews, and root cause analysis.Reduce operational toil through automation, self service capabilities, safe deployments, automated recovery, and reusable tooling.Partner with engineering teams to improve reliability focused architecture, release safety, operational readiness, and change risk management.Improve performance, scalability, resilience, and capacity management across production services.Build and maintain runbooks, playbooks, operational documentation, dashboards, templates, and internal services.Improve the reliability, availability, and performance of large scale .NET and TypeScript applications.Design and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and related tooling.Troubleshoot complex production issues across application, infrastructure, and network layers.Act as the SME for reliability, observability, performance, and operational excellence.Participate in on call rotation, if and when required.Maintain personal/professional development to meet the changing demands of the role, including all relevant regulatory and legislative training
What will help you be successful?
Essential:
8+ years in SRE, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or similar.Senior-level experience supporting production systems in SRE, DevOps, or platform engineering rolesSLIs, SLOs, and error budgets to improve service reliabilityProven experience implementing OpenTelemetry and designing effective observability using metrics, logs, traces, and correlationExperience with monitoring and alerting platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Application Insights, or similarFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automationStrong problem solving skills and a calm, methodical approach to incidents, root cause analysis and production issuesAbility to influence system design, deployment, and operational practices at scale, providing technical guidance and leadershipAn excellent communicator who collaborates effectively across teams, produces clear documentation, champions continuous improvement, and enjoys coaching and mentoring others
Desirable
Strong enterprise grade experience with C# and .NET, including ASP.NET and .NET Core, and the ability to write production-grade code that improves reliability and operabilityExperience with Golang Proficiency in TypescriptExperience working with AWSExperience working in a regulated environment (APRA, Financial Services)
