Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware according to product requirementsImplement new features and enhancements using C and C++Contribute to firmware architecture and system-level design decisionsParticipate in requirements analysis, feasibility studies, and technical risk assessmentsDevelop firmware for ARM Cortex-M microcontroller-based systemsWork with both Bare-Metal and FreeRTOS environmentsDesign and implement low-level drivers and hardware abstraction layersIntegrate and maintain communication interfaces and protocols, including UART, SPI, and I2CDebug and validate embedded systems using development software and laboratory toolsReview, optimize, maintain, and extend existing firmware codebasesSupport hardware development activities, including schematic and PCB reviewsIdentify and define hardware requirements based on firmware and system needsPrepare and maintain technical documentation using Doxygen, Confluence, or similar toolsParticipate in code reviews and technical discussionsCollaborate closely with distributed firmware, hardware, architecture, and project teamsDeliver technical tasks and project milestones within agreed timelines Requirements Must-haves Embedded Firmware Development 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in embedded firmware development for microcontroller-based systemsStrong programming skills in CStrong commercial experience with C++ and object-oriented programmingCommercial experience developing firmware for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers, including M0, M0+, M3, M4, or M7Hands-on experience with FreeRTOS or similar real-time operating systemsExperience with Bare-Metal embedded developmentExperience designing and implementing low-level drivers and hardware abstraction layersAbility to understand, maintain, optimize, and extend large or mature firmware codebases Hardware and Electronics Strong understanding of embedded electronic systemsGood understanding of electronics and hardware-software integrationAbility to read and analyze analog, digital, and power-electronics schematicsExperience identifying hardware requirements based on firmware and system needs Communication Interfaces Practical experience with UART, SPI, and I2C communication protocols Architecture and Debugging Experience debugging and troubleshooting embedded systems using development and laboratory toolsUnderstanding of embedded system architecture and system-level design principlesAbility to contribute to firmware architecture and technical design decisionsAbility to use block diagrams, conceptual designs, pseudocode, and other system-design techniquesStrong analytical and technical problem-solving skills Development Tools and Processes Experience with Git-based version controlExperience with Jira or similar issue-tracking systemsExperience preparing technical documentation using Doxygen, Confluence, or similar toolsFamiliarity with code review practices and structured development workflows Nice-to-have Experience making firmware architecture and system-level design decisionsExperience with safety-critical, industrial, IoT, certified, or regulated electronic productsGood knowledge of PCB design principles for EMC compliance and EMI reductionExperience with Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and network-connected embedded devicesFamiliarity with cloud services and IoT architecturesUnderstanding of cybersecurity principles for embedded and connected productsExperience with Linux-based embedded systems or Linux kernel developmentExperience with UML or other system-modelling methodologiesFamiliarity with fire detection, emergency lighting, or central battery system applications
