Te Haeata/The Opportunity
We are looking for two Application Engineers to join our teams and help shape the future of Te Au Reka.
These roles work with the same technologies, products and customers but at different stages of the application lifecycle.
Depending on your experience and interests, you will join either our Te Au Reka Digital Design team or our Digital Te Au Reka Services team.
Both teams work closely together to deliver, support and continuously improve one of the Ministry's most significant digital transformations.
Te Au Reka Digital Design (Permanent Full Time)

This team takes ownership of the solution once it's live.
You will support business users, deliver enhancements, resolve complex issues and drive continuous improvement to keep the platform secure, reliable and meeting evolving business needs.
Whichever team you join, you will collaborate across design, delivery and support to ensure a smooth transition from implementation into ongoing service.
These are hands on engineering roles.
You will contribute to solution configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, release activities, documentation and operational support while working closely with technical specialists, vendors and business stakeholders.
This role will suit someone who enjoys solving problems, improving the way technology is used and helping deliver better outcomes through the Microsoft ecosystem.
Ō Pūkenga/Skills And Experience
We know that no candidate will meet every requirement.
If your experience is slightly different but you believe you can bring value to the role, we encourage you to apply.
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Bring
Hands-on experience building, configuring or supporting solutions using Microsoft Business Applications such as Power Platform, Power Automate, Power Apps, Azure, D365 and Copilot Studio.
A practical understanding of Microsoft 365 and how business applications integrate with the wider Microsoft ecosystem.
Experience, or a strong working knowledge, of application lifecycle management practices, including source control, release management, deployment pipelines or environment management.
Familiarity with tools such as Azure DevOps and GitHub Enterprise.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues, identify root causes and support practical resolutions.
The ability to build effective relationships with technical teams, vendors and business stakeholders.
A collaborative approach and a willingness to contribute to continuous improvement across Ministry services.
The right to work in New Zealand at the time of application.
Experience with any of the following would be useful, but is not essential:
Supporting production business applications.
Working in a government, regulated or enterprise environment.
Creating or maintaining technical documentation.
Working with security, privacy, change control or release processes.
Helping business teams adopt low-code, automation or AI-enabled tools safely.
