Full Stack Engineer: React | Next.js | Node.js | Java | Python | AWS Location: Sydney, NSW Experience: 7 - 12 Years Job Type: Permanent / Fixed Term About The Role We are looking for an experienced Full Stack Engineer to join our team in Sydney on a permanent or fixed-term basis. This role suits a hands-on senior engineer who is equally comfortable across the front end and back end, and who can operate confidently in a cloud-native, Agile delivery environment. You will work across the full software development lifecycle, building and maintaining scalable web applications using modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks alongside Java and Python services, deployed on AWS. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain full-stack web applications using React.js and Next.js on the front end, and Java and Python on the back end.Build and consume RESTful APIs, ensuring performance, scalability, and security.Contribute to architecture and design decisions across the front-end and back-end stack.Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code using TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.Develop and maintain automated test suites using frameworks such as Playwright, Jest, or Cypress.Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines to support frequent, reliable releases.Deploy, monitor, and optimise applications on AWS cloud infrastructure.Participate fully in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and collaborate closely with Product, Design, and QA.Use Git/GitHub for source control, code review, and collaborative development.Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues across the stack.Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices and code quality standards. Required Skills & Experience 7 - 12 years of professional software engineering experience in a full-stack capacity.Strong hands-on experience with Java and Python.Strong hands-on experience with React.js and Next.js.Solid command of TypeScript / JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.Proven experience designing and building REST APIs.Practical experience with Git/GitHub in a collaborative development environment.Experience working within Agile delivery practices (Scrum/Kanban).Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.Experience with testing frameworks such as Playwright, Jest, Cypress, or similar.Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as within a team.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Desirable Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK).Exposure to containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).Prior experience in a senior or lead engineering capacity.Experience in regulated or enterprise-scale environments.
