Description

Profectus is inviting expressions of interest from Simulation Software Engineers for likely upcoming work across secure Australian Government environments. This lane sits closer to capability programs than to corporate ICT. We are seeking engineers who can design, build and sustain simulation software to a high standard within a formal engineering lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain simulation and synthetic environment software against a controlled requirements baselineBuild real-time models representing physical systems, environments and behavioursDevelop and integrate distributed simulation using standards such as HLA and DISIntegrate and verify interfaces against connected models, systems and hardware in the loopOptimise simulation performance for real-time and deterministic behaviourDevelop test harnesses, tooling and data reduction to support verification and analysisApply disciplined software engineering, including requirements traceability, version control, automated testing, configuration management and change controlSupport verification, validation and accreditation of simulation capabilityProduce engineering artefacts and documentation to program assurance standardsTrace, resolve and evidence defects through the engineering lifecycleCollaborate with engineering, test and program teams to deliver reliable outcomes Required Experience Demonstrated simulation, real-time or mission systems software engineering experienceStrong capability in C++ and C, with Python for tooling, test harnesses and data reductionExperience with real-time or deterministic software and performance optimisationExperience with distributed simulation standards such as HLA or DISExperience working against hardware and model interfaces and communications protocolsExperience within a formal engineering lifecycle with requirements traceabilityDebugging capability at the boundary between software, models and hardwareComfortable with configuration management and disciplined change controlStrong documentation skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders Desirable Experience Experience with model-based development tools such as MATLAB and SimulinkExperience with game or simulation engines such as Unity or UnrealExperience with synthetic environments, training simulators or mission rehearsal systemsSafety critical or high assurance software development experience, including familiarity with standards such as DO-178C or MIL-STD-498Model based systems engineering exposureDegree in software, systems or a related engineering discipline accredited by Engineers Australia, or Chartered Professional Engineer statusPrior experience on a capability acquisition program Security Clearance Requirement Must be an Australian CitizenMust hold a current AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance (minimum)Current NV2 preferred Why Profectus Profectus works with government and private sector customers to deliver trusted, secure ICT capability across complex environments.
