Software Developer Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Remote Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Software Developer to join our team in Ottawa, Ontario. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Java, Python, C, and C++, along with expertise in microservices, containerization, APIs, SQL databases, and software testing. The candidate will work closely with senior developers, architects, engineering managers, and QA teams to design, develop, test, and implement secure and reliable software components. Key Responsibilities Software Development Design and implement software components using Java.Develop and maintain solutions using Python, C, and C++.Work with containerized microservices using Docker and Kubernetes.Integrate SQL databases and clustering capabilities.Apply cryptographic libraries and secure coding practices.Develop and maintain gRPC and REST APIs.Work with JSON, YAML, XML, and Protobuf data formats.Translate architectural requirements into robust software implementations.Collaboration & Design Collaborate with senior developers, architects, and engineering managers.Participate in design reviews and weekly technical discussions.Prepare design documentation and participate in code inspections.Recommend and implement effective technical solutions.Testing & Automation Develop and maintain unit tests for software components.Support Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) and test automation initiatives.Collaborate with QA teams to define and implement testing strategies.Develop BDD feature definitions using Gherkin.Translate acceptance criteria into executable test scenarios. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.7+ years of Java development experience.Mandatory: Python experience.Mandatory: C/C++ experience.Strong experience with microservices and containerization.Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.Experience with SQL databases.Knowledge of cryptographic libraries and secure coding practices.Experience with gRPC and REST APIs.Knowledge of JSON, YAML, XML, and Protobuf.Experience with BDD tools/frameworks such as Cucumber.Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
