About our Company
CaterSpot is a profitable and dynamic company poised to redefine the B2B food delivery market.
Based in Singapore, we are gearing up for an exciting phase of international expansion with ambitions to dominate the global market.
Our innovative technology tools are designed to help companies streamline and optimize their food ordering processes, making corporate food ordering seamless, efficient, and delightful.
CaterSpot is looking for a Senior Software Engineer who owns features end-to-end across the whole stack, with a clear edge in frontend craft, and who's excited to help modernize our frontend stack and tooling over time.
If you're excited about building AI-powered products and using tools like Claude as a genuine part of your daily workflow, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll do
End-to-End Ownership: Take features from concept to production across the full stack โ scoping requirements with product, designing the data model and APIs in Rails, building rich React, Redux, and Tailwind interfaces, writing tests, deploying, monitoring in production, and iterating based on real usage.Frontend Depth: Bring genuine depth to our React + Redux + Tailwind frontend โ component architecture, state management, rendering performance, accessibility, and design system consistency.
Set the technical bar for frontend code quality across the team.Frontend Modernization: Take the lead on modernizing our frontend stack and tooling over time โ identifying where our current setup is showing its age, proposing upgrades (libraries, build tooling, patterns), and driving incremental migrations without disrupting delivery.Rails Backend Ownership: Design and build Rails backend systems that support the frontend work โ data models, service objects, background jobs, and public-facing APIs (OAuth 2.0, API keys, JWT, RBAC, rate limiting, versioning).Agentic Engineering: Design, build, and operate agentic systems โ multi-step LLM workflows, tool-using agents, and autonomous task execution โ applying them both to internal developer productivity and customer-facing product features.AI-Powered Product Features: Design and ship product features powered by LLMs โ prompt engineering, integrating model APIs, RAG workflows where relevant, and building the frontend UI/UX around streaming and non-deterministic outputs.Performance Optimization: Continuously improve performance across both frontend (bundle size, rendering, Core Web Vitals) and backend (query optimization, caching, background job design).Design System Ownership: Build a design system from scratch on top of Tailwind (component library, design tokens, documentation) and drive adoption across the codebase.Testing: Write comprehensive unit and integration tests, and end-to-end feature specs using Capybara with Chrome Driver, to ensure the reliability and stability of our applications from the user's perspective.Remote Discipline: Exhibit a high level of discipline and the ability to work remotely with minimal supervision.
What you bring
Minimum 4 years of professional experience with React, Redux, and Tailwind CSS, with depth that stands out โ modern React patterns (hooks, component composition), Redux state management at scale, performance profiling, and experience building a design system from scratch.Minimum 1 year of professional experience with Ruby on Rails โ including data modelling, API design, and backend architecture decisions.Comfortable writing and maintaining end-to-end feature specs using Capybara with Chrome Driver (RSpec feature specs simulating real user flows through the browser), not just unit/component-level tests.A track record of modernizing or meaningfully upgrading a frontend codebase โ introducing better tooling, patterns, or libraries into an existing React/Redux/Tailwind stack rather than just working within it as-is.Agentic engineering experience โ demonstrable hands-on work building agentic systems in production or substantial side projects: multi-step agent workflows, tool/function calling, agent memory and context management, failure handling, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints.
Hands-on experience with Claude Code, the Claude API (tool use, tool_choice), the Claude Agent SDK, or MCP servers is a strong plus.Experience building product features that integrate LLMs or other AI/ML capabilities โ model APIs, prompt design, evaluation, and handling non-deterministic outputs in production.Proven track record in performance optimization for both frontend and backend.Highly self-motivated, disciplined, and productive, capable of working effectively in a remote setting.
Why CaterSpot
Flexible Work: Enjoy the flexibility of working remotely while being part of a dedicated and supportive team.Solid Foundation, Room to Modernize: Work with a battle-tested Rails, React, Redux, and Tailwind stack โ and help shape where our frontend tooling goes next.
Use AI tools like Claude meaningfully in both how we build and what we build.Impact: Contribute to a product that connects people with amazing catering experiences.
If you're excited about owning features across a full Rails + React stack, pushing frontend craft further than most full-stack engineers do, and using Claude as a real part of your workflow, we'd love to hear from you!
