Job Description
We are now looking for a Software Developer (C++) to join our Software Team in Mülheim-Kärlich and contribute to the next generation of intelligent sorting machines.
The role combines modern C++ software development, AI-supported technologies and hands-on work directly on industrial machines.
Your Responsibilities
Develop and optimize C++ software for TOMRA’s sensor-based sorting machinesBuild and improve inference pipelines for embedded and edge devicesImplement new software modules, features and machine logicAnalyze, troubleshoot and resolve software issuesTest and validate software directly on machines under real operating conditionsSupport the integration of AI and deep-learning models into productive machine environmentsCollaborate closely with electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, production and service teamsContribute to continuous improvements in software quality, performance and efficiencyPrepare technical documentation and support troubleshooting activities
Qualifications
What You Bring
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related fieldStrong C++ development skillsmin.
3 years of experience in software development for industrial, embedded or machine-related environmentsAbility to work independently and take ownership of technical topicsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsInterest in industrial systems, machinery and hands-on engineering workGood communication skills and ability to collaborate across departmentsFluent English skillsNice to Have
Experience with embedded or real-time systemsExposure to AI, machine learning or deep-learning applicationsKnowledge of image processing or machine visionExperience with multithreadingUnderstanding of hardware-software interfacesBasic frontend skills with TypeScript, HTML and CSSPython knowledgeGerman language skills
