Software Engineer – Java Location: Amman, Jordan Employment Type: Full-time, On-site Role Overview IWDT is seeking a Software Engineer with strong experience in Java development and database technologies. The successful candidate will design, develop, test, and maintain reliable software solutions supporting IWDT’s digital transformation and platform initiatives. This role focuses on building back-end services and APIs, designing efficient database solutions, optimizing system performance, and ensuring application scalability, security, and reliability. Experience with Apache NiFi or similar data integration technologies is considered a strong advantage. Key Responsibilities · Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Java-based software applications. · Build secure, scalable, and reliable back-end services and RESTful APIs. · Design and optimize relational databases, data models, queries, and stored procedures. · Identify and resolve application and database performance issues. · Integrate internal platforms, databases, smart systems, and third-party services. · Apply object-oriented programming principles and recognized software design patterns. · Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business and technical requirements into effective software solutions. · Participate in code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and technical documentation. · Follow software development best practices related to security, maintainability, scalability, and reliability. · Contribute to the continuous improvement of development tools, standards, and processes. · Support data integration and data-flow solutions using Apache NiFi or similar technologies when required. Required Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. · Strong understanding of computer science and software development principles. · Proficiency in Java and object-oriented programming. · Hands-on experience in back-end web development and server-side frameworks. · Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs. · Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL. · Understanding of software architecture, security, testing, and version-control practices. · Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities. · Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts clearly. Preferred Qualifications · Experience with Apache NiFi, particularly creating, managing, and monitoring data flows. · Familiarity with Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or similar database technologies. · Knowledge of cloud platforms, containerization, Docker, Kubernetes, or microservices. · Familiarity with messaging and integration technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ. · Experience with CI/CD tools and automated testing. · Understanding of data platforms, ETL processes, and system integration.
