The Role Design, build, deliver - here's what you'll be responsible for: Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services using Java 17 and Spring Boot within a cloud-native architectureBuild scalable microservices and RESTful APIs that support enterprise banking applications with a strong focus on security, reliability, and performanceDeploy, manage, and optimise applications on Kubernetes while contributing to containerisation and cloud-native engineering best practicesCollaborate with Solution Architects, Business Analysts, Product Owners, and engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient banking solutionsOptimise application performance, troubleshoot production issues, and continuously improve system reliability and observabilityImplement secure coding standards, automated testing, and CI/CD practices to support high-quality software deliveryLeverage AI-assisted development tools and modern AI technologies to improve engineering productivity, code quality, and software delivery processes What We're Looking For A technically strong, cloud-native backend engineering professional: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related disciplineMinimum 5 years of hands-on backend development experience, with strong expertise in Java 17 and Spring BootProven experience designing and developing enterprise-grade microservices and RESTful APIsStrong experience deploying and managing containerised applications using KubernetesExperience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern DevOps practicesSolid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, application performance tuning, and distributed systemsExperience working within cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is highly desirableKnowledge of enterprise integration, messaging technologies, and event-driven architecture is an advantageExperience working in the banking or financial services industry with an understanding of secure, regulated application developmentHands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar, with exposure to integrating AI capabilities into software engineering workflowsStrong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in Agile delivery teamsReady to build secure, cloud-native banking platforms using the latest Java technologies?
