If you're a Senior Software Engineer who gets excited by high-performance systems, distributed architecture and real-time data, this could be a seriously interesting opportunity. This isn't a role where you'll simply be maintaining an existing codebase. You'll be solving complex engineering problems, shaping architecture and working on systems where performance, scalability and reliability genuinely matter. You'll have significant technical ownership, influence over engineering decisions and the opportunity to work alongside a highly capable team tackling some genuinely challenging backend problems. The Role You'll be a key part of the engineering team, building and evolving backend platforms that process large volumes of real-time data and integrate with external systems. Please note we are only considering candidates who have previous betting/gaming/casino/gambling (or similar) industry experience at this time. You'll be involved in: Designing and building highly scalable backend servicesPython and/or Java as one of your core programming languagesDeveloping cloud-native, event-driven applicationsBuilding integrations with third-party platforms and APIsDesigning and optimising real-time data processing pipelinesWorking with distributed systems where availability and performance are criticalIdentifying and solving complex performance and scalability challengesContributing to architectural and technical decisionsImproving resilience, observability and overall system reliabilityWorking closely with engineers and technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality softwareSupporting infrastructure, deployment and continuous improvement The Technology You'll be working across a modern, cloud-native engineering environment including: Python | Java | GCP | Docker | REST APIs | Event-Driven Architecture | Streaming | Distributed Systems | Real-Time Data Processing The team is focused on building robust, scalable systems rather than simply following a prescribed technical playbook so your engineering judgement will genuinely matter. What We're Looking For We're looking for a Senior Engineer who enjoys getting into the difficult technical problems. Please note we are only considering candidates who have come from the betting/gaming/casino/gambling (or similar) industries at this time. You'll ideally have: Strong commercial Python experienceProfessional Java experienceExperience building backend or distributed systemsCloud experience: GCP preferred, although AWS or Azure is also valuableExperience with Docker and containerised applicationsStrong REST API development experienceExperience with event-driven architectures or messagingExperience working with real-time data or high-throughput systemsAn understanding of designing scalable data processing pipelinesA strong interest in performance, reliability and system architecture Your background could come from a range of high-performance environments, including: Sports betting, iGaming or wagering technologyTrading or market-data platformsLow-latency or high-throughput applicationsStreaming and event-driven architecturesFIX Protocol or electronic trading integrationsFinancial services or electronic trading You don't necessarily need experience in every area, what's important is that you've worked on technically demanding systems where speed, scale and reliability are critical.
