Senior Java Developer – Payments Location: London (2 days per week) / Remote (3 days per week) Salary: £95,000 – £120,000 base + 20% bonus Employment: Permanent The Opportunity We’re looking for experienced Senior Java Developers to join a high-performing engineering team working on critical payments technology. You’ll play a key role in designing and developing secure, scalable payment services, with a strong focus on security architecture, API integration and robust engineering practices. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and wants to work on systems where reliability, security and performance really matter. What You’ll Be Doing Design, develop and maintain high-volume payments services and platformsBuild scalable, secure applications using Java and Spring BootDesign and integrate RESTful APIs and third-party payment servicesContribute to security architecture, authentication, authorisation and secure API designDevelop cloud-native solutions using AWSWrite clean, maintainable and highly tested code using TDDWork closely with architects, product managers and other engineering teamsIdentify and resolve complex technical and performance issuesContribute to technical standards, architecture decisions and engineering best practicesHelp ensure payment systems meet high standards for security, resilience, availability and scalability What We’re Looking For Strong commercial experience as a Senior Java DeveloperExtensive experience with Java and Spring BootStrong understanding of software and security architectureProven experience designing and integrating APIsExperience working with payments, financial services or transaction-based platformsStrong AWS experience and understanding of cloud architectureA strong approach to Test-Driven Development (TDD)Excellent understanding of secure coding principles and API securityExperience working with distributed, highly available systemsStrong problem-solving and communication skills Technology Java | Spring Boot | AWS | REST APIs | TDD | Security Architecture | API Integration | Payments What’s On Offer £95,000 – £120,000 base salary20% annual bonusHybrid working — 2 days per week in London, 3 days working from homeOpportunity to work on complex, business-critical payments technologyStrong technical environment with a focus on engineering quality, security and innovation If you’re a Senior Java Developer with strong payments, AWS, API integration and security architecture experience, we’d love to hear from you.
