We are looking for a Back-End Software Engineer to join our international team and contribute to the development of scalable, secure, and high-performance back-end applications and services.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain back-end applications and services using one or more back-end programming languages.Implement core business logic and server-side functionality to support user-facing applications.Integrate front-end components with server-side logic and APIs.Design and implement secure and scalable data storage solutions.Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and web services.Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms to secure APIs and back-end services.Apply security best practices, including input validation, secure storage, compliant logging, and monitoring.Develop scalable software solutions focused on performance, reliability, and maintainability.Analyse application data, processes, and code to troubleshoot issues and identify areas for improvement.Configure and use application monitoring and observability tools to support troubleshooting and performance analysis.Perform unit and integration testing, debug issues, and validate code changes.Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to ensure code quality and reliability.Optimise applications for speed, scalability, and resource efficiency.Work with relational and NoSQL databases, ensuring appropriate data modelling and efficient data access.Configure cloud services supporting back-end functionality, such as serverless functions, storage services, and managed Kubernetes environments.Maintain clean, well-structured, and maintainable code.Follow established Git workflows and development best practices.Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including API documentation.Ensure solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements and align with user expectations.Collaborate with international and multicultural teams, contributing both independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements):
Professional experience developing back-end applications using Java and/or PHP, with experience in frameworks such as Spring Boot, Hibernate, and/or Node.js.Good understanding of web development principles, software development lifecycle, and programming best practices.Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL, including complex SQL queries and database design.Knowledge of NoSQL document databases such as MongoDB, CouchDB, or Cosmos DB, including an understanding of consistency and performance trade-offs.Experience designing, developing, and securing RESTful APIs and web services.Knowledge of OpenAPI/Swagger for API documentation.Understanding of authentication and authorization standards such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT.Experience with Git workflows, such as GitFlow or trunk-based development, and basic understanding of legacy version control systems such as SVN.Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.Experience or knowledge of application performance monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, or Elastic APM.Understanding of OpenTelemetry concepts for metrics, logs, and distributed traces.Experience with unit and integration testing and understanding of how to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.Basic knowledge of cloud services and architectures, particularly for back-end applications and services.Ability to analyse complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding code quality, error handling, testing, and technical documentation.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work effectively in an international and multicultural environment.Ability to participate in multilingual meetings.Good command of English, both written and spoken.
Knowledge of French would be considered an additional asset.
Minimum level of expertise: Junior.
Optional: One of the following or an equivalent certification: AWS Certified Developer – Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, or CNCF Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
