Senior Java Backend Engineer

As an international fintech company, ibsettle devotes itself to developing efficient transactional banking services for innovative small and medium-sized businesses. Currently, ibsettle is expanding its team in Vilnius. We’re looking for a Senior Java Backend Engineer to take full ownership of our internal solutions. You’ll own the architecture, manage all services, and shape how our systems evolve - making a direct and lasting impact on the company’s technical foundation. Responsibilities Take ownership of the existing architecture, consolidate documentation, code repositories, and define a clear long-term target architectureDevelop, implement, and maintain architecture and integration designs for internal servicesDocument and continuously update architectural diagrams, integration patterns, and system design artifactsProvide technical leadership and guidance to engineers, ensuring alignment with architectural standards and best practicesEvaluate and recommend new tools, frameworks, and integration approaches based on evolving business and technical needsProactively identify technical risks, architectural bottlenecks, vulnerabilities, simplify workflows, and optimize system performance Requirements 5+ years of overall IT experience, including at least 1 year in solutions architecture or technical leadershipAbility to design, evaluate, and communicate end-to-end solutions that align with technical, operational, security, and risk considerationsHands‑on experience building and operating highly available, multi‑tier systems in modern cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)Strong engineering background in Java and Spring Boot, with practical experience designing and operating SQL and NoSQL databasesAbility to work collaboratively with engineering teams, drive technical decisions, and provide clear architectural guidanceFluent in English (verbal and written) Benefits Be part of a great team in the exciting and ever-expanding fintech industryGet your ideas heard and have the power to improve processesGrow together with the Company while learning from industry expertsFriendly (and sometimes funny) atmosphere, social eventsFlexible working arrangements - hybrid workplace modelEmployee health insurance The monthly salary range for this position starts at EUR 5000 (gross). The final offer will depend on the experience and competencies of the selected candidate.
