Software Specialist, Developer Platforms

As a Software Specialist (Developer Platforms), you'll play a key role in shaping and evolving the platforms, tooling and automation capabilities that support software delivery across ASB. You'll help engineering teams build, deploy and operate software more effectively while contributing to the continual improvement of developer experience, platform reliability and delivery practices. The role has a strong focus on GitHub Enterprise, engineering enablement, automation and modern platform technologies. About The Team You'll be joining the Digital Workplace Platform team within ASB's Digital & Engineering Practice. The team is responsible for the platforms, tooling and automation capabilities that enable engineering teams across the organisation to build and deliver software safely, securely and efficiently. Working across source control, CI/CD, cloud platforms, automation and developer tooling, the team plays an important role in improving how software is developed, deployed and supported. From GitHub Enterprise through to Kubernetes platforms and delivery automation, you'll help drive continuous improvement and create better outcomes for engineers across ASB. About The Role This is a hands-on technical role focused on designing, delivering and supporting modern developer platforms and engineering tooling. You'll work closely with engineering teams to understand their needs, improve delivery practices and help unlock greater automation across the software delivery lifecycle. A significant part of the role involves supporting and evolving GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, self-hosted runners and associated platform capabilities. You'll also contribute to cloud-native platform solutions, CI/CD pipelines, container platforms and automation initiatives that help teams deliver software faster and more effectively. Key Responsibilities Support and evolve GitHub Enterprise and associated developer platform capabilitiesDesign, build and improve CI/CD pipelines and automation solutionsPartner with engineering teams to understand requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutionsSupport platform adoption and help teams get the most value from engineering tools and servicesContribute to cloud and container-based platform solutions, including Kubernetes environmentsImplement and maintain automation processes that improve delivery efficiency and reliabilityProvide technical guidance and troubleshooting support across developer platforms and toolingCollaborate with engineers, platform teams and technology stakeholders to deliver improvementsContribute to platform architecture, documentation and knowledge sharingIdentify opportunities to simplify processes, improve developer experience and increase automation About You You're someone who enjoys enabling other engineers to succeed. Key Skills & Experience Must Have Strong experience with GitHub Enterprise and modern source code management practicesExperience with GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines and delivery automationExperience working in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering or Cloud Engineering environmentsStrong understanding of cloud platforms and cloud-native technologiesExperience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and container-based platformsExperience supporting and improving developer tooling and engineering platformsKnowledge of DevOps architecture, automation frameworks and engineering best practicesStrong stakeholder engagement and communication skillsProven ability to solve complex technical problems and influence outcomes across teams Nice to Have Experience with self-hosted runners and secret management solutionsExperience with Infrastructure as Code technologies, including BicepSoftware development experience, particularly with C# or similar languagesExperience designing and implementing developer self-service capabilitiesExperience improving developer experience or platform adoptionExposure to AI-enabled engineering tools and emerging developer technologiesExperience mentoring or coaching other engineers Working for ASB Benefits At ASB, we want our people to thrive both professionally and personally.
