Our partner is looking for a Senior DevOps Developer based in Canada.
This role offers the opportunity to engineer and operate highly available, resilient, and scalable cloud-native services supporting critical customer workflows.
You will work at the intersection of software engineering, infrastructure, platform reliability, security, and automation within a distributed engineering environment.
The position combines hands-on technical development with ownership of service health, operational excellence, observability, and disaster recovery.
You will help improve developer productivity through robust CI/CD practices, infrastructure as code, automation, and reliable deployment processes.
Working closely with engineering and infrastructure teams, you will solve complex production challenges and drive continuous improvements in performance and stability.
The role is ideal for an experienced DevOps or SRE professional who enjoys solving challenging technical problems and improving systems at scale.
You will also have the opportunity to shape engineering practices around reliability, security, and cloud-native operations.
Accountabilities
Design and improve cloud infrastructure: Collaborate with infrastructure, systems, software engineering, and platform teams to build solutions that improve developer velocity, infrastructure resilience, security, availability, and operational efficiency.Own service reliability: Establish and continuously refine SLO/SLI targets, monitor service health, and promote operational excellence across production systems.Drive incident management: Lead service reviews, fire drills, chaos testing, incident response, and post-incident reviews to identify risks and prevent recurring issues.Automate deployments and operations: Develop scripts, tooling, and automated processes for service deployment, configuration, upgrades, and ongoing operational management.Manage cloud-native environments: Build and maintain Kubernetes workloads, AWS infrastructure, containerized services, SaaS databases, and related cloud-native technologies.Improve observability: Strengthen monitoring, logging, alerting, and service discoverability to identify performance and reliability issues proactively.Coordinate major upgrades: Plan and execute significant infrastructure and service upgrades while maintaining availability and minimizing or eliminating downtime.Maintain security and compliance: Keep systems current with security requirements and contribute to secure operational processes and infrastructure practices.Troubleshoot complex issues: Diagnose and resolve live performance, availability, and stability problems while implementing measures to prevent recurrence.Contribute to technical strategy: Participate in deep technical discussions and help shape robust, scalable, and performant engineering solutions.Support production systems: Participate in on-call rotations and provide reliable operational support for critical production services.Work independently and collaboratively: Prioritize multiple concurrent initiatives while maintaining strong communication with distributed teams and stakeholders.
Requirements
5+ years of production experience working with large-scale cloud infrastructure, with strong preference for AWS experience.5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years working in an SRE or DevOps development capacity.Strong understanding of DevOps practices, architectures, methodologies, and cloud-native application development.Hands-on experience with AWS, including services such as Step Functions, IAM, EC2, S3, CloudWatch, and Lambda.Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Linux/Unix Shell.Experience managing SaaS database solutions such as MongoDB Atlas, DynamoDB, or Redshift.Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Chef, or Ansible.Proven ability to design and implement CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, CircleCI, Spinnaker, or comparable technologies.Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, work independently, and make sound technical decisions in complex environments.Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a track record of resolving production performance and stability issues.Experience with REST APIs, including consuming, designing, or implementing API-based solutions, is an advantage.Knowledge of networking and security concepts is preferred.Experience with observability, logging, and monitoring platforms such as Dynatrace, New Relic, Splunk, Datadog, or BugSnag is a plus.Familiarity with Agile development practices is beneficial.Experience with security and audit frameworks such as SOC 2 or FedRAMP is an advantage.Strong communication and collaboration skills suited to working with distributed engineering, infrastructure, and platform teams.
