Staff React Engineer | Immediate Start | FTC | ASAP to May 2027 Our client, a leading technology business, is modernising a legacy CRM onto a new React front-end, with AI capability being built directly into the platform. As Staff Engineer, you'll own the front-end architecture that gets it there. The opportunity You'll own how the new React app coexists with the legacy CRM during transition, things like iframe embedding, shared auth/session behaviour, and migration sequencing, while setting the technical direction multiple squads will follow, as AI-driven features get built into the product itself. What you'll do Own front-end architecture for a major CRM modernisation effort, including AI-powered product capabilitySet component architecture, state management and testing standards across squadsMake and own high-impact technical decisions on complex, multi-squad initiativesDefine API contracts and integration standards with backend engineers (REST/GraphQL)Tackle the most ambiguous front-end problems no one else has untangled yetMentor engineers and raise the technical bar across teams What we're looking for Over 10 years in front-end development, React and TypeScript experience at scaleProven experience leading a front-end migration or rewrite that coexisted with a legacy systemTrack record of driving architectural decisions across teams, including through disagreementStrong hands-on use of agentic AI tools to boost developer productivity (coding assistants, AI-driven testing/debugging workflows)Comfortable shaping backend/API contracts even if front-end is your core specialismStrong grasp of SOLID principles, accessibility (WCAG) and performance at scale Why this role Genuine Staff-level scope, architecture ownership, not just executionGround-floor involvement in embedding AI into a live production platformFlexible working, home or Sydney/Brisbane offices, your call Location & contract Ideally based in Sydney or Brisbane, but not essential.
