Brief Description Platform Engineer Your new team Join the Cloud Platform Team, where our talented engineers work in agile squads to design, build, and maintain the cloud platform that powers Auto & General's critical systems. You'll work with the latest cloud technologies, collaborate across the business, and share knowledge with passionate engineers who love solving complex problems. The role As a Platform Engineer, you'll build and improve the AWS cloud platform that enables our developers to deliver exceptional software for our customers. Working with cutting-edge technologies and modern engineering practices, you'll help run the critical workloads that power both our internal systems and customer-facing products. This is a hands-on role in a growing team that values continuous improvement, collaboration, and learning. Design, develop, and maintain Terraform modules and configurations to provision and manage AWS resourcesBuild and manage CI/CD pipelines that accelerate software deliveryManage Kubernetes clusters including provisioning, networking, monitoring, and upgradesCollaborate with application teams to design solutions that speed up deliverySupport cloud operations, troubleshoot infrastructure issues, and participate in incident responseStay current with industry best practices and continuously improve team standardsDeploy applications to Kubernetes and ensure platform reliability and performance What Experience You'll Bring Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services in an enterprise environmentUnderstanding of Kubernetes architecture and experience deploying applications to Kubernetes clustersFamiliarity with observability concepts and tooling (CloudWatch, Prometheus, New Relic)Basic understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, VPCs, subnets, and routing in cloud environmentsStrong ability to communicate technical concepts clearly, both verbally and in writingA proactive approach to learning new cloud technologies and toolsAWS, Kubernetes, or similar certifications (highly recommended)A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar (desirable) Location Close to a variety of public transport and easy parking options, the Toowong office has excellent end of trip facilities (including secure bike storage and showers), outdoor spaces and plenty of modern collaborative areas to work and connect with colleagues.
