About The Opportunity
Opticca Consulting is seeking a highly experienced Senior Ansible Automation Specialist to design and deliver secure, reusable automation that improves the consistency, speed, and reliability of infrastructure and application operations.
The role combines expert Ansible development with platform engineering, API integration, software-development discipline, and consulting skills.
The successful candidate will turn manual procedures into governed automation products that teams can safely operate at enterprise scale.
You can expect to
Discover, assess, and prioritize automation opportunities across Linux, Windows, networks, cloud, security, middleware, databases, and IT service workflows.Design and develop idempotent, modular, testable Ansible playbooks, roles, collections, inventories, plugins, templates, and execution environments.Architect, deploy, configure, upgrade, and operate Ansible Automation Platform, including controller, automation hub, execution nodes, credentials, projects, inventories, workflows, RBAC, and high availability.Integrate automation with Git, CI/CD platforms, ITSM systems, APIs, secrets vaults, identity providers, event sources, and infrastructure platforms.Create self-service automation workflows with surveys, approvals, access controls, notifications, scheduling, and auditable execution.Establish source-control, branching, peer-review, testing, release, documentation, versioning, and content-promotion standards for automation assets.Implement automated linting, unit and integration testing, Molecule scenarios, pipeline validation, and controlled promotion across environments.Build secure credential-management patterns and ensure sensitive values are protected throughout development, execution, logging, and support.Troubleshoot failures across playbooks, Python dependencies, APIs, target systems, network devices, execution environments, and platform services.Lead discovery workshops, define automation roadmaps, estimate effort and value, mentor engineers, and deliver technical documentation and knowledge transfer.
Must haves
Required Qualifications
Five or more years of infrastructure automation, systems engineering, or DevOps experience, including at least three years of advanced Ansible development.Deep knowledge of Ansible architecture, variables, precedence, conditionals, loops, handlers, filters, Jinja2, collections, inventories, plugins, Vault, and execution environments.Hands-on experience implementing and administering Ansible Automation Platform in an enterprise environment.Strong Python and shell-scripting skills, plus practical experience integrating REST APIs and working with YAML, JSON, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.Ability to write clean, reusable, well-documented automation with robust error handling, validation, logging, rollback considerations, and secure credential use.Working knowledge of at least two target domains such as RHEL/Linux, Windows, Cisco/ACI, cloud, virtualization, storage, security, middleware, or databases.Strong consulting and communication skills, including requirements discovery, solution design, estimation, stakeholder presentations, and knowledge transfer.Professional working proficiency in French; English is required for collaboration with clients, vendors, and technical teams outside Quebec.
Preferred Assets
Red Hat Certified Engineer, Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation, or comparable certification.Experience with Event-Driven Ansible, private automation hub, automation mesh, containerized execution environments, and custom collections.Experience automating Cisco ACI or other network platforms, cloud provisioning, security operations, patching, compliance, or ITSM orchestration.Experience establishing an automation centre of excellence, governance model, reusable content standards, or automation adoption program.
Education and Certification
College diploma or university degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.Applicable Red Hat and industry certifications are valued but do not replace demonstrated hands-on capability.
