Role & Responsibilities As a Senior Java Developer, you will join a team delivering high-performance e-trading and risk platforms, designing and enhancing Java-based solutions within complex financial technology environments. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building scalable, maintainable software, solving technical challenges, and contributing to the evolution of existing platforms. You will design, develop, and enhance Java components, analyse and modernise existing systems, support performance improvements, and contribute to code quality through testing, reviews, and engineering best practices. Working closely with technical leads, engineers, business analysts, and stakeholders, you will help translate requirements into robust technical solutions while contributing to delivery across the full software development lifecycle. Key Skills Necessary Strong hands-on Core Java development experience, with a solid understanding of language fundamentals, object oriented principles, design patterns, and the Java Collections FrameworkExperience developing applications using Spring / Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservicesSolid understanding of multithreading, concurrency, JVM fundamentals (Memory Management, Garbage Collection)Strong SQL skills and experience with varied databasesExperience with messaging technologies (e.g., Kafka, JMS, or similar)Experience working across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including Agile delivery, source control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and testing practicesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborativelyCuriosity for emerging technologies and a keen interest in Capital Markets Technology Nice to Have Knowledge of distributed systems, scalable application design, and application performanceExposure to reactive programming frameworks such as Spring WebFlux or ReactorComfortable working in Unix/Linux environmentsFamiliarity with Docker and KubernetesCapital Markets experience, particularly within eTrading or Risk platformsAcademic degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline Next Steps This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Java Developer who thrives in fast-paced, front-office environments and wants to build technology used across global trading floors and business-critical investment banking teams.
