Java Developer

We're looking for a Java Developer to join our team in Lisbon, Portugal in a hybrid working mode. You will work within the Client & Market team to develop and optimize backend solutions for omni-channel retail platforms, supporting luxury Maisons across e-commerce environments. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with scalable microservices and modern architectures while contributing to seamless digital and physical customer journeys. Responsibilities Analyze business and technical requirements to support backend solution design for omni-retail processes Develop, test and debug Java-based microservices under senior engineers’ guidance, ensuring maintainability and reliability Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and integration issues with mentorship support Collaborate with the Support team to investigate incidents related to omni-retail and order management Work with DevOps teams to understand CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows Write clean, maintainable code and actively participate in code reviews to enhance technical quality Requirements 2-3 years of Java development experience or strong academic foundation with demonstrable projectsFamiliarity with Spring Boot and Spring ecosystem (e.g., Spring Data JPA, Hibernate); hands-on exposure is a plus Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and web communication concepts (HTTP, JSON) Exposure to or interest in microservices architecture and event-driven systems Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL; exposure to NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) is desirable Basic knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git Interest in learning tools like Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines Good communication skills, strong collaboration mindset Fluent in English, written and spoken Nice to have Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure Familiarity with tools like Jira or Confluence Interest in e-commerce, retail or luxury brand ecosystems We offer Competitive compensation depending on experience and skillsVariety of projects within one companyBeing a part of a project following engineering excellence standardsIndividual career path and professional growth opportunitiesInternal events and communitiesFlexible work hours
