We support numerous departments at NN Head Office in The Hague (the Netherlands) and NN subsidiaries all over Europe.Now we are hiring to extend our Accounting Operation team.What we are looking for:Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
Being a Certified Public Accountant (Mérlegképes könyvelő) is a strong advantage.Experience: Solid accounting background with approximately 5 years of relevant experience in GL accounting.
Strong candidates with slightly less experience may also be considered if they can demonstrate the required level of ownership and professional maturity.Closing expertise: Proven, hands-on experience in monthly, quarterly and year-end closing processes.
A strong understanding of the end-to-end closing workflow is essential.Accounting knowledge: Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries and related accounting processes.Systems: Confidence in Excel and experience with SAP and/or Oracle.
Experience with reporting, automation or data visualization tools is an advantage.Stakeholder management: Ability to work confidently with business users, process owners, team leaders and other stakeholders in an international environment.Ownership: Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently, identify risks and issues, drive solutions and escalate when necessary.Continuous improvement: Interest in process improvement, standardization, automation and new ways of working.Language: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required for daily international communication.
Hungarian is preferred.Soft skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills, professional maturity and a natural ability to coordinate, mentor and guide others.Your main responsibilities will includeAs a Senior Accountant, you will take ownership of end-to-end accounting and closing activities while acting as a key point of contact for the Accounting Leader, Budapest Team Leader, business users and other stakeholders.You will play an active role in coordinating closing activities, supporting the team’s professional development and ensuring that accounting processes are delivered accurately, efficiently and on time.Your responsibilities will include:Executing and coordinating monthly, quarterly and year-end closing activities, ensuring agreed timelines and quality requirements are met.Monitoring closing progress, identifying potential risks or delays and proactively escalating issues when necessary.Performing balance sheet reconciliations and related accounting processes with a high level of accuracy and ownership.Handling day-to-day and more complex accounting activities using Excel and advanced ERP systems.Acting as a key point of contact for business users, stakeholders, the Accounting Leader and the Budapest Team Leader on accounting and closing-related topics.Supporting the coordination and prioritization of team activities, particularly during critical closing periods.Providing professional guidance, coaching and day-to-day support to less experienced colleagues and interns.Actively contributing to knowledge sharing and the professional development of the team.Taking ownership of complex accounting questions and supporting their resolution in cooperation with relevant stakeholders.Contributing to the documentation, maintenance and continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other process documentation.Identifying and driving continuous improvement, standardization, automation and digitalization opportunities within accounting processes.Actively contributing to process transitions, implementations, system migrations and stabilization activities.Supporting cross-functional initiatives and collaborating with other Accounting, Finance and GBS teams.Acting as a reliable professional partner to the team and stakeholders, stepping up when additional ownership or coordination is required.What else we can offerOpportunity to work from home and the office as well, based on your choice.Flexible working hours.Challenging projects within an exciting international yet familiar working environment.Competitive compensation package.Plenty of opportunities to develop yourself – skills and personal development are high priorities at NN RAS.The opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where ownership, professional growth and internal career development are actively encouraged.
