A senior cloud platform role for an AWS specialist who wants genuine ownership of infrastructure rather than simply operating it. You will shape the architecture, scalability, performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of a mission-critical data platform handling large volumes of commercial information.

Highlights

High earning potential and strong technical ownership over a mission-critical cloud platform, with substantial influence over performance, scalability, reliability, and infrastructure economics.

Description

Senior Cloud Platform Engineer (AWS) | Amsterdam | up to €160,000 OTE What if cloud infrastructure wasn't just something you operated, but something you truly owned? For a fast-growing Amsterdam-based technology company, we're looking for a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer who combines deep AWS expertise with a strong understanding of performance, scalability and cloud economics. You'll work on a mission-critical e-commerce data platform processing large volumes of product and commercial data every day. At this scale, infrastructure decisions matter: milliseconds impact performance, architectural choices impact reliability, and AWS decisions can have a significant impact on the bottom line. This isn't a role where you'll simply keep the platform running. You'll help determine how it should run, scale and evolve. What you'll own You'll take senior technical ownership of the cloud platform, working closely with Engineering leadership and the wider engineering organisation. Your focus will include: Designing, improving and scaling the AWS cloud infrastructureDriving reliability, availability and performance across the platformOptimising AWS usage and cloud spend without compromising performanceCreating visibility into cloud consumption, capacity and cost driversIdentifying opportunities for architectural and infrastructure improvementsImproving Kubernetes environments, observability, networking and latencyHelping engineering teams make better infrastructure and cloud decisionsTranslating technical choices into their commercial and operational impactActing as a senior technical sparring partner for Engineering leadership You'll remain hands-on, but you're expected to look beyond the technology itself. We want someone who understands that a great cloud platform needs to be technically excellent, operationally reliable and financially sustainable. The environment You'll be working with technologies including: AWS · Kubernetes · New Relic · RabbitMQ · OpenSearch · APIs · high-volume data platforms The environment is high-load, data-heavy and business-critical, with plenty of room to improve, optimise and build. What we're looking for We're interested in speaking with engineers who bring: 7+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps or SREDeep hands-on expertise with AWSStrong production experience with KubernetesExperience operating high-load, high-availability or data-intensive platformsStrong knowledge of observability, networking, performance and scalabilityProven experience with AWS cost optimisation, cloud economics or FinOps principlesThe ability to analyse cloud consumption and turn it into concrete technical decisionsConfidence communicating with senior engineering and C-level stakeholdersA pragmatic mindset and the ability to take ownership without needing a highly structured environment around youExperience in e-commerce, marketplaces, travel, adtech, product data or other high-volume digital platforms is a strong plus.AI is already changing the way strong engineering teams operate, so we're also interested in how you use AI tooling to make yourself and the teams around you more effective. Why this role? The company is commercially successful and continuing to scale. That creates interesting engineering challenges: more traffic, more data, greater infrastructure complexity and an increasing need to make deliberate decisions around cloud architecture and cost. You'll have the mandate to influence those decisions rather than simply execute them. Compensation: up to €160,000 OTE per year, depending on experience and seniority. 📍 Amsterdam - Hybrid: 3 days in the office / 2 days remote Interested in owning an AWS platform where scale, performance and cloud economics genuinely matter? At Niah, we value how you think and work, not just what's written on your CV.
