Having successfully delivered against multiple UK election cycles, they are now entering a significant growth phase, with their client base forecast to expand substantially over the next 12–18 months .This is a genuinely AI-first engineering culture — not as a buzzword, but as the operating standard. The team builds using AI agents day-to-day, and this hire will be central to embedding that practice across the function as the business scales .It is a rare opportunity to join a small, high-trust team building regulated, high-stakes software, with real autonomy and a direct line to the CEO . They require a Software Engineer to join our engineering team. Following the successful delivery of the UK General Election and Local elections, our client base is forecast to grow significantly over the next twelve to eighteen months, and we need solid engineers who can ship code, work independently, and grow with u s.You will build software using AI agents, contribute to code reviews, and take ownership of features end-to-end. AI-first engineering is how we aspire to work. You do not need to be fluent with AI tooling already; but you will be expected to dive into AI-first workflows and figure it ou t.The role reports to the Head of Engineering. You will work closely with our operations and sales colleagues to understand what we are building and wh y.What you will do• Ship features end-to-end using AI agents, from design through to productio n.• Take ownership of components and projects without needing constant directio n.• Contribute to code reviews and architectural discussion s.• Maintain and improve the engineering practices around you: testing, observability, CI/C D.• Grow into more senior responsibilities as you develop and the team expand s.What we need from y ou• Strong technical fundamentals. Comfortable across front-end, back-end API design, and database work. Can understand and create production quality experiences with technical and customer minded car e.• Ability to work independently. You can pick up a piece of work, remove ambiguity, define what done looks like, and deliver it without close supervisio n.• Composure and integrity. Direct, willing to admit mistakes, calm under pressur e.• Visible growth across your recent roles. Open to feedback and ready to push yoursel f.• Comfortable working in a small startup environmen t.• Drive towards AI-assisted engineering. We do not expect you to be fluent already, but we do expect you to be curious about it and quick to pick up new tooling.
