Description
Position Overview
The Backend Software Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance backend services in a cloud-native, microservices-based architecture.
The role focuses on building resilient and secure solutions deployed on Microsoft Azure, leveraging Docker, Kubernetes, and event-driven systems.
The developer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, DevOps engineers, testers and product managers, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of backend services.
Key Responsibilities
· Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant backend services using microservices architecture.
· Develop and optimize RESTful APIs or GraphQL endpoints.
· Build and deploy cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Functions, and Azure App Services.
· Containerize and orchestrate applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
· Implement event-driven architecture using Kafka, Azure Even Hubs or similar.
· Ensure authentication and authorization using OAuth2, JWT, and Azure AD.
· Optimize database performance for relational (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL (Cosmos DB) databases.
· Apply security best practices, including data protection and secure API development.
· Implement unit, integration, and end-to-end testing for software quality assurance.
· Follow SOLID principles and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
· Conduct code reviews and enforce best practices.
· Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps.
· Use Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates) for cloud provisioning.
· Monitor and optimize system performance using Azure Monitor, Prometheus, and Grafana.
· Work closely with frontend developers, DevOps teams, and product managers to deliver integrated solutions.
· Maintain technical documentation for architecture, APIs, and system components.
· Provide mentorship and guidance to junior developers.
Must-Have
· 3+ years of experience in backend development.
· Strong expertise in .NET (C#).
· Experience with Azure Cloud (Azure Functions, AKS, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL).
· Proficiency in Docker and Kubernetes for containerized applications.
· Deep understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
· Experience with event-driven systems (Kafka, Azure Event Hubs).
· Strong knowledge of CI/CD automation and DevOps practices.
· Familiarity with API gateways (Azure API Management, Kong, Istio).
· Experience working in Agile teams (Scrum, Kanban).
Nice-to-Have
· Experience with serverless computing (Azure Functions, AWS Lambda).
· Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and CQRS.
· Experience with GraphQL, WebSockets, and real-time applications.
· Familiarity with Helm charts for Kubernetes deployments.
· Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor).
Authority & Decision-Making Scope
· Has technical ownership over backend services and APIs.
· Collaborates with architects and senior engineers to define system designs.
· Provides input on technical roadmaps, best practices, and optimizations.
· Recommends tooling, frameworks, and cloud services for efficiency and scalability.
· Contributes to team discussions on security, architecture, and performance improvements.
