About the role:
We build the system that gives companies real time visibility and control over every dollar they spend.
Rippling Spend unifies corporate cards, reimbursements, procurement, bill pay, and travel into a single workflow that connects directly to accounting and payroll.
Unlike point solutions that reconcile after the fact, we enforce policy, approvals, and accounting in real time.
That lets finance teams operate proactively, and it creates a hard systems problem across payments, data consistency, permissions, and scale.

What you will do:
Craft exceptional platform solutions that will benefit multiple teams to create a seamless user experience.
Be hands-on in technical architecture and be the liaison between between product leadership, engineering leadership, and technical workstreamsTackle complex engineering challenges, leveraging your expertise to devise ingenious solutions that push the boundaries of what is possible.
Assume clear ownership of your projects, empowering you to make impactful decisions and drive their successful implementation.
Play a pivotal role in leading and mentoring highly talented engineers across Spend Management.
Immerse yourself in one of Rippling's newest and most influential products, becoming a true authority and contributing to its ongoing development.
What you will need:
Experience: 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong track record in backend development and distributed systems.
Architecture: Proven ability to design large-scale, fault-tolerant systems from scratch.
You understand the trade-offs between consistency and availability and know when "eventual consistency" is not enough.
High Agency: You thrive in ambiguity.
You don't wait for a ticket to be assigned; you identify the business problem, scope the technical solution, and execute.
Domain Agility: You have the intellectual curiosity to master the complex domain of treasury and money movement in a matter of days, even if you don't have a background in it.
Tech Stack: Deep proficiency in a modern backend language (Python, Go, Java, etc.) plus experience with complex data modeling (SQL/NoSQL)

189,000 - 315,000 USD per year(US Tier 1)
