Role Description
As a Founding Engineer at Pecan, you will design, build, and maintain core product features, working closely with the founding team to make key architectural decisions.
Day-to-day responsibilities include coding across the stack, reviewing code, improving reliability and performance, and integrating third-party tools and data sources.
You will translate user needs into technical solutions, and iterate quickly based on feedback.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in London, where you will help establish engineering culture, processes, and best practices from the ground up.
Qualifications
Strong software engineering skills in modern programming languages (e.g.
Python, Go, or similar) and experience building production web applications.Experience with backend systems and infrastructure, including APIs, databases, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), and application security.Ability to design and maintain scalable architectures, implement testing strategies, and ensure reliability, observability, and performance.Experience collaborating in small, early-stage teams, taking ownership of projects end-to-end, and making pragmatic trade-offs.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.Comfort working across the stack, including frontend frameworks, basic UI implementation, and integration with design systems is a plus.Professional experience is a plus, but not required as long as you can demonstrate impact.
