ElBits is an ambitious collaboration among Norway’s grid companies aimed at driving change in the power grid industry.
We achieve this by integrating and standardizing data and developing digital products.
Our goal is to create a digital infrastructure that will enable the sector to increase grid capacity and efficiency, as well as streamline and improve customer journeys.
With our partnerships, deep industry expertise, and access to critical data, we are uniquely positioned to innovate and address the challenges of today’s energy systems.
By making data accessible and enabling collaboration, we unlock the grid industry's potential.
Together, we contribute to solving one of the greatest challenges of our time - the energy transition.
At Elbits, we are building services that depend on stability, scalability, and fast iteration, and this is where our platform team plays a key role.
We want to evolve our platform as we go, not spend years in isolation building capacity and support we may never need.
The main goal of our Platform Team is to ensure that product teams have everything they need to develop, launch, and operate services safely and efficiently.
And right now, things are moving fast: our product teams need tools and stability, and our partners have high expectations for reliability and security.
We have launched one of our key products, Tilko, across the Norwegian grid companies, so this is an exciting moment to join and make an impact.
More products are also on the way.
We are now hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to take a central role in designing and running our development environment in Azure and Kubernetes, improving DevOps, developer experience, security, and infrastructure.
This role will help our products move forward and strengthen us as a tech organization.
Beyond technical skills, we hope you bring a product mindset and organizational understanding and challenge the “why” behind what we build.
You will have a challenge to sink your teeth into - balancing being agile and just in time with our delivery, but also having a cross-product perspective to ensure we build a scalable architecture for the future.
What will you do?
In this role, you will build a bridge between our products and bring the capabilities needed to support our journey going forward.
Today, our platform team consists of four engineers, and in this role, you’ll work closely with them on key initiatives.
We also value flexibility, so at times you may collaborate directly with cross-functional teams, for example, supporting a product team with platform-related needs to ensure they have the right tools and guidance.
Overall, your focus will be on identifying the best way forward: engaging with product and data teams to create shared value, coordinating priorities, and fostering a service-minded, collaborative approach across domains.
Some examples of what you’ll be responsible for:
Collaborate closely with product teams to understand their needs and translate them into scalable platform and infrastructure solutions.
Help define and develop the platform strategy and the strategic “why” behind platform choices to ensure they support product and business goals.
Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure, and developer tools to ensure efficient and secure delivery.
Take responsibility for platform and infrastructure security, while continuously improving reliability, observability, and scalability as more services move into production.
Represent the platform perspective in architecture discussions, ensuring decisions align with long-term goals and operational needs.
Ensure the right balance between product team autonomy and compliance with governance and regulatory requirements.
Combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution to build a secure, scalable, and developer-friendly foundation that enables product teams to deliver with high speed and quality.
Who are we looking for?
You’re a hands-on engineer with a strong interest in cloud-native platforms, developer experience, and building infrastructure that enables other teams to move fast and safely.
You enjoy solving complex problems, challenging existing ways of working, and taking ownership of solutions that are built to last.
We believe you have:
A customer-first mindset - whether you are engaging with a grid company, a product manager, or a developer.
Experience working across cloud environments, languages, frameworks, or infrastructure setups, allowing you to choose the right tool for the problem.
A strong drive to understand and articulate how technical decisions support business objectives by asking the “why,” aligning choices with strategy, and collaborating closely with product teams to deliver the best possible outcomes.
Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code (IaC), implementing security principles, policies & guardrails, and developer tooling.
A track record of building and maintaining robust, scalable, and observable systems.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain trade-offs clearly.
A DevOps mindset with a strong focus on security and scalability, including experience building tooling for multiple teams.
While not required, it’s an advantage if you:
Have experience setting up and managing Kubernetes environments, including networking and cluster configuration.
Have worked in a startup or scaleup environment, where you’ve had to balance speed, ownership, and long-term maintainability.
Extensive experience in distributed platform development and cloud engineering, being hands-on across multiple languages, and applying a practical mindset to select the right tool for each task.
We build our platform with Azure as the foundation, taking a cloud-native approach to infrastructure, security, and developer experience.
We use Azure-managed services and PaaS where it makes sense, alongside Kubernetes.
Pulumi is our primary IaC tool, while Go and TypeScript are our main languages today.
We value pragmatic engineering and strong best practices, while staying open to new tools and approaches as our platform evolves.
What can we offer?
First, we want to emphasize the opportunity to pursue new challenges and uncharted territories.
This role will help us build a robust and cross-functional platform environment, and you'll have the opportunity to work with truly amazing and competent colleagues, making a real impact in Norway's grid sector.
We also offer:
A positive, flexible, and trust-based work environment.
Meaningful societal impact and a contribution to the energy transition.
Industry-leading pension and insurance policies.
A modern office centrally located at Rådhusgata in Oslo.
Choice of equipment and the tools you need to do your best work.
Great colleagues, strong collaboration, and fun social events
