Role Overview As a Java Backend Engineer, you will join the team responsible for our e-commerce payment platform. Our platform enables merchants to process online payments and offer their customers a wide range of payment methods. You will help develop, improve, and operate the systems behind these payment flows, from integrations with payment providers to our payment page and server-to-server APIs. This is a hands-on development role where you will work on both new functionality and the continuous improvement of an established, business-critical platform. What You Will Do Integrate new payment methods into our payment platformDevelop and integrate clients that communicate with payment providers and other third partiesDesign and implement new platform featuresDevelop, enhance, and maintain our hosted payment pageDevelop and maintain public and internal APIsWrite unit and integration testsContribute to the design and architecture of new software componentsImprove our internal framework by refactoring, simplifying, and generalising the codebaseReview code and exchange feedback with other developersDeploy new versions of our productsTake part in the team’s compensated second-level on-call rotation outside regular working hours Who You Are A bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related fieldAt least three years of professional experience with JavaExperience developing applications with a modern framework such as SpringExperience with Git, Maven, and relational databasesThe ability to design reusable, robust, and maintainable software componentsA strong awareness of software quality and engineering best practicesExperience writing unit and integration testsGood problem-solving skills and a willingness to take ownershipAn interest in payment systems, integrations, and business-critical backend applicationsExperience with Linux, CI/CD pipelines, containers, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms is an advantage, but not a requirement.
