Description

About the Role A hands-on engineering role for someone who's already delivering solidly on their own and wants the next step: ownership of systems, of provider integrations and of the teamwork. This is deliberately a growth role. You'll start with well-scoped delivery work and take on architecture, provider ownership, and incident leadership as you demonstrate you're ready. We have clear expectations for what we look for at Mid and at Senior level, so you'll know what the next step requires rather than having to guess. Fintech or payments experience is a plus, not a requirement. We'll teach you the domain. What You'll Do From The Start Write clean, well-tested code and deliver it consistently โ€” that's the foundation everything else is built onBuild and maintain integrations with acquirers and PSPs โ€” the core of what we doReview other people's code with attention to design and maintainability, not just correctnessOwn features end to end: understand the business goal, ask the questions that surface hidden requirements, break it down, deliver itDebug production issues โ€” investigate, fix, and write up what happened so it doesn't recurParticipate in architectural discussions: bring trade-offs to the table, protect your position, learn from others What You'll Grow Into Acting as a gatekeeper for code quality โ€” holding the standard in review, catching what shouldn't be delivered, and explaining why in a way that raises the bar for everyone rather than just blocking mergesOwning a provider relationship from discovery through launch, and being the person they talk toDriving architectural decisions rather than contributing to them โ€” including the ones with no clean answerCoordinating complex incidents: leading root cause analysis and pushing prevention work through to completionImproving how the team works: review standards, runbooks, deployment procedures, workflowsMentoring developers next to you What We're Looking For We work mostly in Ruby on Rails. Either you know it, or you catch up quickly and contribute from your first weeks โ€” in which case deep proficiency in a similar dynamic language (Python, PHP, JavaScript) is a mustA track record of finishing things. You unblock yourself, and you know the difference between a real blocker and an excuseResults over polish in implementation โ€” we'd rather ship a working solution than the most elegant possible one. Standards on tests, conventions, and reviewability aren't part of that tradeYou work within existing conventions first. Understand why a process exists, match the codebase's style, then propose improvementsSolid database skills: writing efficient queries, understanding indexes, making reasonable data modeling callsWorking comfortably with CI/CD, containers, and a cloud platform โ€” you can deploy and diagnose your own workStrong debugging instincts and the willingness to solve a difficult taskEffective daily use of LLM tools Nice to Have Payment provider integrations (acquirers, PSPs) โ€” the domain, not just the codeFamiliarity with PCI DSS requirementsAny prior experience mentoring or leading technical decisions What We Offer โ‚ฌ2,500โ€“4,000 gross per month, plus performance bonusGrowing responsibility comes with growing pay, not just another titleA small team of ~5 passionate developers โ€” your work is visible and there's no queue to be heardWe put real effort into noticing who's contributing. We measure delivery volume, quality, and impact on teammates, and reward it accordinglyA codebase we actively invest in โ€” refactors get prioritized rather than deferred forever, and improving it is part of the job, not a side questRegular, honest feedback on where you stand against the next levelReal influence over architecture and process โ€” earned quickly if you deliverRiga-based, hybrid โ€” we care that the work lands, not which hours you were online for
