Frontend Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Frontend Engineer based in Canada. This role offers the opportunity to build and evolve developer-facing products used by a global community. You will take ownership of frontend features from initial concept through production and continuous improvement. The position combines deep frontend engineering with a strong focus on quality, testing, developer tooling, and user feedback. You’ll work extensively with React and TypeScript while engaging with modern web technologies such as SSR, streaming, and server components. You’ll also help establish reliable engineering guardrails that enable rapid development, including AI-assisted coding workflows. Accountabilities Take frontend products and features from 0→1, launching them to real users and iterating based on support feedback, usage data, and direct user insights.Own features throughout their lifecycle, from initial design and implementation through production deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvements.Build and strengthen quality pipelines covering type safety, linting, formatting, unit and component testing, API contract testing, accessibility, visual regression, and bundle-size controls.Establish automated checks that prevent recurring defects and ensure that bugs identified in production are systematically addressed through improved testing and validation.Develop high-quality frontend experiences using React and TypeScript, while working with modern web technologies and architectural patterns.Collaborate across the stack, including frontend interfaces, API contracts, deployment workflows, preview environments, and observability.Work effectively with AI coding agents by reviewing generated code, refining architecture, and establishing guardrails that enable safe and efficient development.Operate autonomously within a large, publicly visible codebase and contribute improvements that can benefit other developers and contributors.Use user feedback and real-world product behavior to inform technical and product decisions rather than relying solely on predefined specifications.Contribute to engineering practices that balance development speed with reliability, maintainability, accessibility, and overall product quality. Requirements Proven track record of taking a product or significant feature from 0→1, launching it to real users, and iterating based on actual usage and feedback.Strong frontend engineering fundamentals with substantial hands-on experience in React and TypeScript.Solid understanding of modern web architecture, including concepts such as server-side rendering, streaming, server components, and edge technologies.Strong quality and developer-tooling mindset, with experience designing testing and CI strategies that support fast, reliable development.Hands-on experience with tools such as Vitest, Playwright, MSW, or comparable testing and quality frameworks.Comfortable working with AI coding agents, including reviewing generated code, identifying architectural issues, and establishing effective validation guardrails.Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and take ownership without requiring constant task assignment or supervision.Excellent written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in an asynchronous, distributed environment.Strong understanding of software quality, automated testing, CI/CD, accessibility, API integration, and production reliability.A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn from users, investigate problems, and continuously improve both products and engineering processes.
