Senior Frontend Engineer (React / Next.js) - Herefordshire/Hybrid We’re working with a well-established, growing organisation that has recently undergone a major transformation across its technology function, with significant investment and huge growth within the technical team. As part of this continued growth, they’re now looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer with strong React and Next.js experience to join the team. You’ll have the opportunity to influence frontend architecture, make important technical decisions, improve engineering standards and play a key role in how customer-facing applications are designed, built and delivered. This is a role for someone who wants genuine ownership. You’ll be trusted to work with a high degree of autonomy, bring fresh ideas to the table and take responsibility for solutions from initial concept through to production. The Role Designing and developing scalable React and Next.js applicationsHelping shape frontend architecture and technical standardsMaking decisions around component architecture, state management and application performanceImproving page performance, rendering and bundle sizesTaking ownership of the quality and testing of your codeWriting clean, maintainable and well-tested code, including unit testingContributing to technical strategy and identifying opportunities for improvementWorking with cloud-based environments and supporting live production applicationsConsidering resilience, scalability and performance throughout the development lifecycleChampioning accessibility and ensuring applications meet strong accessibility standardsWorking closely with wider engineering teams to establish and improve development practicesMentoring and supporting more junior engineersExploring and adopting AI-assisted development tools where they can genuinely improve productivity and delivery About You We’re looking for someone who is comfortable operating at a senior level and doesn't need to be told what to do at every turn. You’ll ideally have: Strong commercial experience with ReactSignificant production experience with Next.jsStrong JavaScript and/or TypeScript experienceExperience building and supporting large-scale customer-facing applicationsA strong understanding of frontend architecture and modern engineering practicesExperience writing comprehensive unit tests and taking ownership of code qualityExperience working with live production systemsA good understanding of performance, scalability and resilienceStrong knowledge of web accessibility and experience putting accessibility best practices into actionExperience working within a cross-functional/product-focused engineering environmentA proactive approach to problem solving and technical decision makingExperience mentoring or supporting less experienced developersAn interest in using AI tools within the development lifecycle while maintaining strong engineering standards Interested?
