We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help modernise Medserv’s core platform and solve some of our most important technical challenges. You will be one of the most senior hands-on engineers in the team, working across architecture, system design, technical delivery and engineering standards. The role is primarily focused on PHP and Laravel, with opportunities to contribute to AI-assisted features across claims processing, medical coding and billing automation. What You’ll Do Lead projects from discovery through to productionShape platform architecture, APIs, data ownership and service boundariesDesign and build scalable PHP and Laravel systemsHelp modernise legacy applications safely and pragmaticallyReview critical code and improve engineering standardsSupport production incidents and long-term reliability improvementsMentor engineers and guide technical decisionsWork with DevOps to improve CI/CD, testing and observabilityContribute to AI-assisted product capabilities What We’re Looking For You do not need to meet every requirement below. We are primarily looking for a highly capable engineer with strong judgement, broad technical experience and the ability to influence engineering beyond an individual project. Strong professional experience with PHPExperience with Laravel or another modern PHP frameworkStrong system design and database skillsExperience modernising complex or legacy platformsGood knowledge of MySQL, APIs, security and automated testingStrong technical judgement and the ability to work through ambiguityExperience mentoring engineers and influencing technical directionExperience with React, Vue or TypeScript is useful but not essential.
