Description

We are adding a Junior AI Automation Developer to our team to help us support a major project for a German renewable energy firm in Hamburg. This client manages a large network of wind turbines and solar installations, and they need better ways to handle the massive amounts of data their hardware produces. In this role, you will help build the scripts and internal tools that connect their sensor data to their maintenance databases, using basic AI integrations to help categorize and filter technical logs. You will work closely with our senior developers to ensure these automations are reliable and easy to maintain. About Pixel Systems Pixel Systems is a small, fully remote software agency. We do not build flashy social media apps or marketing websites that people forget about after a week. Instead, we focus on the practical software that businesses actually use to function. Our work involves things like admin panels, CRM integrations, and database migrations. Clients come to us when their spreadsheets have become too big to manage or when their different software tools refuse to talk to one another. We believe that working code is much more valuable than a complex plan that never gets finished. Our approach is simple: we provide fixed quotes, we do weekly demos to show our progress, and we hand over everything when we are done. This includes the code, the documentation, and even walkthrough videos so the client knows exactly how to use what we built. We use reliable technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because we want the systems we build to be stable. We are a team of developers who prefer solving real operational headaches over chasing the latest industry trends. The Role In this role, you will be focused on building automations that move data between different systems. For our renewable energy client, this means writing code that takes information from wind turbine sensors and formats it so it can be used by their maintenance teams. You will be helping to replace manual data entry tasks with automated scripts that run in the background. This is a fully remote, permanent position that requires you to be comfortable managing your own time and staying organized. A typical day might involve writing a script to fetch data from an API, using a basic AI model to sort through error messages, and then saving that data into a Postgres database. You will also spend time cleaning up older code and making sure that our documentation is up to date. This is a paid position, and the compensation is competitive for the entry level market. You will have the chance to learn how a professional agency operates while contributing to a project that helps manage green energy infrastructure. What You Bring We are looking for someone who is organized and enjoys the process of making things work correctly. You do not need years of professional experience, but you should have a solid understanding of programming basics. We value clear, readable code over clever tricks that no one else can understand. You should be comfortable working on practical problems, even if they are not particularly flashy. We need someone who is reliable and can follow a set of technical requirements carefully. A basic understanding of how to write and debug code in JavaScript or a similar language. The ability to explain your technical choices in plain English. A preference for working on internal tools and business logic rather than visual design. Good organizational skills to keep track of different tasks and deadlines. A willingness to ask questions when you are stuck instead of spending days on a single problem. Comfort working in a fully remote setting where most communication happens in writing. An interest in learning how to integrate AI tools into standard business workflows. Helpful Background While this is an entry level role, there are a few specific tools we use every day that would be helpful for you to know. If you have used these in a school project, a bootcamp, or for personal hobbies, please let us know. We do not expect you to be an expert in all of these, but a basic familiarity will help you get started. Working with Node.js to build simple backend scripts. Basic knowledge of React or another frontend framework for building simple dashboards. Understanding how to write basic SQL queries for databases like Postgres. Experience using GitHub to manage your code and collaborate with others. Familiarity with how APIs work and how to handle JSON data. Basic knowledge of how to prompt or integrate LLMs for data classification tasks. Working at Pixel Systems Working at Pixel Systems is different from the typical corporate environment. We do not have many layers of management, so you will work directly with the senior developers who are building the software. We value a quiet and productive atmosphere where people can focus on their work without constant interruptions. Because we are a 100 percent remote company, we rely on clear documentation and honest communication. We ship work that helps real people, like the engineers at the renewable energy firm, do their jobs more effectively. There are no office politics here, just a small team of people who like to build things that work. We are a small team that values a straightforward approach to software development. We do not chase every new framework that comes out: we stick to what is reliable and maintainable. If you are looking for a place where you can learn how to build professional software in a remote environment without the usual drama of a large company, you will likely enjoy working with us. We focus on getting the job done right and making sure our clients are satisfied with the results.
